Labor Day Weekend - 2015

Happy Labor Day!  Hope you are getting to enjoy this Labor Day Monday by doing something you enjoy.  I hit the jackpot because Eric is actually off work today and we can spend the day together.  Let's hear it for three day weekends!!

Speaking of Eric, check out the beautiful roses he sent to me at work last week.  They were absolutely gorgeous!  I love getting flowers for no specific reason.  They brightened my desk all week and still looked great to take home on Friday night.

I filled my weekend with tons of fun.  It started Friday afternoon when I was given some fabulous tickets to see Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard.  The concert was at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater which is an outdoor venue.  The weather was great and the crowd (us included) enjoyed the trip back to the 80's as all three bands played their classics.  Let's face it, these guys are getting older, but they can still rock.  Fun night listening to some of our favorites!  We sang Pour Some Sugar on Me all the way home.

Def Leppard

I'm pretty sure Tommy Shaw was singing just to me all night!

And then Brian Wheat, bass guitarist for Tesla, came and sat next to us!  See what I mean about these guys getting a little older.  But that doesn't mean I'm getting older too does it?!?

Saturday was a day I had been looking forward to for a while.  I was headed to Dallas to see Ed Sheeran!!  Woot  Woot!!  My friend Debbie had given me this trip as a thank you for helping with her daughter's wedding.  Guys, this trip was truly epic!

I was determined to carry on my luggage.  Mission accomplished.  If you know me, you know that carrying on is a bit of a challenge because of my over packing problem.  And all my hair goop.   But I did it!!  Maybe my new desire to become more minimalist is actually working!  I'm thinking I might need a rolling duffel for my birthday because even though I mastered carrying on, my bag weighed about 586748938475 35 pounds.  Little challenging to lug through the airport!  But I digress -- back to the trip.

This trip ran like clockwork.  It was a new experience for me because I didn't have to plan one single part of the trip -- Debbie had taken care of EVERYTHING!  It was so enjoyable!  We figured out what time we were meeting at the parking spot and she had planned, booked and mapped out everything else.  Loved it!

Once at the airport, we grabbed some Starbucks and waited for our flight.  Check out my Jamberry nails.  I had gotten a free set to try and decided to test them out on my trip.  I'll have a full review later, but want to say here that I loved them.  This pattern is not me (little too Strawberry Shortcake), but I've spotted a few designs in their book of over 300 that I can't wait to get.

We were two happy girls when we got on the plane.  The flight time rushed past as we chatted and read and dreamed of seeing Ed in just a few short hours.

The plane trip was right on time and we found the hotel, got checked in and headed to the venue.  We had just the right amount of time to enjoy dinner before the music started.  We picked a wonderful Tex Mex place call Blue Goose Cantina.

The drinks were fantastic, food oh so yummy and atmosphere made you feel like you were at a real fiesta.

After dinner it was on to the reason for the trip to Dallas -- Ed!!  I have to say, we were giddy with excitement.

Jamie Lawson and then Christina Perri warmed up the crowd for the main attraction.  When Ed took the stage, the crowd came to life.  This guy is so over-the-top talented!!  His stage presence is fun and you just can't help but love him!  Just look how adorable he is...

Man, I'm going to have this concert on my mind for quite a while!  Can you imagine -- he's only 24 years old.  His future is so bright!  Can't wait to see how far this ginger will go!

Our trip back to St. Louis was as smooth as our trip there.  We might have actually squealed out loud when we checked in and both got TSA pre-approved.  Landed back home mid afternoon after 24 hours of pure fun.  It was great knowing we still had an extra day off on Monday to do normal weekend stuff.

Ian and Kayla joined Eric and I for dinner on Sunday night to watch the Cardinals game.  It was great seeing them and sharing weekend stories.  This momma loves seeing her kids!!

This was one weekend I won't soon forget.  It's kind of surreal thinking that in 24 hours I had flown to Dallas, enjoyed some wonderful food, seen Ed Sheeran live in concert and was back home.  Thanks Debbie for a truly fabulous time!

Now it's Monday and I'm off to get some stuff done.  September is here so it's time to move into the fall season.  Where are those pumpkin recipes?

Check out what others were up to this weekend.

  1. I saw Def Leppard in 10th grade and they were SO good!! Ed.. *sigh* I'm so jealous you got to go!! I'm on a concert time out until we can pay some bills and it's a total bummer. Being a responsible adult totally blows. ;)
