Weekending - December 11, 2015

Wow - what a weekend!  Lots of activities have been happening around here and I've been loving it.

Friday I did my annual bell ringing for the Salvation Army.  This year I rang bells with my friend Janet.  It's such a wonderful cause and we had so many very generous givers putting money in our red kettle.

On Saturday I was helping with a baby shower for the mommy-to-be of my first great nephew, which meant Friday night was finishing the preparations.  My daughter-in-law, Kayla, and I worked until the wee hours getting stuff together (remember, I'm quite the procrastinator).  Kayla was a HUGE help and it was really fun getting to spend time with her.

The shower was being held in my hometown, which is about 2 hours away from where I live.  Which meant I had to load everything up and pray I didn't forget something.

I'm going to do a full shower recap later, but I just have to share some pictures with you now.  The theme of the shower, woodland critters, matched the nursery.  My dad, brother and nephew were tasked with cutting the wood for the centerpieces and dessert table.  I had shown them pictures of what I had in mind and they executed them perfectly!  We added a little greenery and pine cones and they were ready to go.

Weeks ago when we were starting to plan the shower I thought having a hot chocolate bar would be the perfect thing for a mid-December event.  Saturday's temperature was a record-breaking high of 72 degrees.  Go figure.

Here's a few more scenes from the day ~

Everything turned out lovely!  I'll share all the details soon.  Kristian and Mason are going to be awesome parents and I can't wait for little Hunter to get here!

Sunday was spent unpacking and cleaning up my house from all the shower preparations.  One thing I've learned about myself is I am definitely NOT a neat crafter.  I had layers of supplies literally in every room of house.

This week I must do an inventory of where I am Christmas wise.  I did get a free product in exchange for a review this week that I'm excited to share with you.  Check out my new phone case.

Talk about being happy when I slipped this cover on my phone!  Oh my goodness, I love it!  If you're still looking for that special gift for someone, think about a personalized phone case from Case App.  The ordering process was quick and easy.  Case App has phone cases and skins for your computer.  You can upload your own picture or use one of their stock designs.  I love giving (and getting) personalized gifts so this could be just the thing for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list.  Today's the last day to order to get it by Christmas so don't delay!  To sweeten the deal, use this 20% code at checkout:  PENNYSPASSION20.  You're welcome!

This is going to be an awesome week!  We have several parties for work and I'm judging a decorated door contest.  Hope you have a fantastic week too and try not to let the stress of the season get to you. I have a feeling I'll be reminding myself many times this week of that!

Check out what others were up to this weekend.

  1. I love the decor for the shower! The tablescape is beautiful. I don't feel like I'm a very neat crafter either - it always seems like I make a bigger mess than I need to! Have a great Monday.
