Thinking Out Loud Thursday - July 2, 2020

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday - a day I invite you to link up and share what's on your mind and I share something I'm thinking about.

Can you believe this year is exactly half over?  In some ways, it feels like the longest year of my life and in other ways, it feels like it's barely begun.  We are in the camp of people staying mostly at home.  And for us, that's been quite the adjustment.  I love to keep our calendars full of travel, concerts, plays, and visiting friends.  All that came to a screeching halt in March.  Now I search for activities we do by ourselves, outside and social distancing.

As time passes, I find the need to pump myself up to stay positive.  If I hear how "we're all in this together" one more time, I just might have a complete meltdown!  Seeing what some others are posting on social, I feel we're not "all in this together".  I'm staying home.  I'm wearing a mask when I'm out.  We might all be in this together, but we definitely are not all handling it in the same ways.  And I just don't understand all the rudeness.  Can't we just be kind to one another?

I loved this analogy of how the virus can spread ~

(In case you're not a crafter, the answer is ALL the projects end up with glitter!)

Because I'm a firm believer that you are responsible for your own happiness, I'm working hard to find ways to bring a little joy to my life.  A few weeks ago, I decided to have a Sipsby tea subscription box sent to myself at my office.  It arrived last week and now I'm enjoying a nice cup of tea each afternoon.  It's fun to explore new flavors.  If you'd like to give Sips by a try, click HERE and receive $5 off your first box.  What are some things you do to stay positive and happy?

When I posted my goals on January first for 2020 (HERE), living life in the middle of a pandemic never entered my mind.  But yet, the pandemic has helped me work on some of them.  My goals included using the things I have, expanding my cooking life, enriching friendships and organizing our home.  Funny how staying home more has given me the time to work on every one of those things!  Since shopping has been on the back burner, I've definitely had to be creative in using things like wrapping paper that I had on hand.  Zoom has made it fun to reconnect with friends.  Don't even get me started on all the cooking!

Here's hoping the second half of 2020 has less need for quarantining, more openness to diverse ideas, and a lot more love for our neighbors!

  2. Love the glitter analogy and it really applies to things like attitudes as well.

  4. I agree with what you said 100% Penny. When states opened up I thin many thought everything was "back to normal" That is far from the truth! We all have to evaluate risks and reduce them as much as possible as the virus is still strong and very contagious. My husband and I stay home, wear our masks when we must go out, and basically only socialize through facetime or Zoom.
