Nine Eleven. Wow - I can still remember the crushing feeling of that day nineteen years ago when we all realized there were terrorist attacks happening in our country. On our land. I had just gotten to work when the first plane crashed into the tower. As details became available and the news wasn't good, I wanted so badly to jump right back in my car and get my son, Ian, out of school. For a whole host of reasons, that didn't happen. I stayed at work, Ian stayed in school and the day got much worse as the events unfolded.
I also remember the feeling of our country coming together in the aftermath. We stood together, as one nation. All of us so proud to be Americans and so ready to defend our country. Oh, how I wish we had a bit of that oneness today.
Let's all take a minute as we move about today to reflect on how great our country is and can be in the future. We somehow survived that dreadful day. In a lot of ways, it made us stronger. It made us appreciate servicemen and women, police officers, and firefighters. Thank you for all those who continue to serve to make our country great!
Now, on with my five for today ~
1. Skinnytaste Meal Prep Cookbook
Skinnytaste cookbooks are one of my favorites and they have a new one coming out on Tuesday! Gina Homolka, the author, is a wizard at whipping up delicious, healthy recipes. I'm hoping this book will help me prep meals ahead of time and cook some things in advance. This cookbook is packed full of 120 healthy, diverse recipes to make your cooking life easier. Get your pre-order in today!
2. Dancing With The Stars
Monday night is the big premiere for this season's Dancing with the Stars! There will be lots of changes and I can't wait to see how they play out. And the contestants - oh my! Can Carol Baskin dance? Will Johnny Weir twirl on the hardwood like he did on ice? We'll be tuned in Monday night to see!
3. National Grandparents Day
Sunday is National Grandparents Day. We might not be able to physically be together this year because of social distancing, but there's always the facetime or a Zoom chat! Gather the kids and have them reach out to their grandparents. Ask them to share a family story or a bit of history.
4. Mask Case
What are you doing with your face mask when you remove it? I had been just throwing mine on my desk, on the car seat, on the counter - whenever it lands. Then I also have the issue where I have no idea where I left it and I'm searching for it. Sound familiar? Well, I'm hoping these cases will help me be a bit more organized and keep my mask cleaner. They come in a pack of 4, so I might even share one with the friend!
5. When all else fails....
Have a great weekend! I'm going to get out some fall decorations. It's supposed to rain here on Saturday. It might be a great day to just curl up with a cup of hot tea and do some reading. See you next week!
Never Forget. I’m going to order the mask case. Have a great weekend.

Today is always a somber day. I definitely need those mask cases.
ReplyDeleteThose mask cases are great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see your tier tray...I got one for this year and I'm in love for my first time doing it.
ReplyDeleteHeading right over to order some mask cases. Genius.
ReplyDeleteLove the punctuation graphic.
I like the idea of meal prep but haven't been terribly successful at it. Will check out the book, too. Hate that Dancing canned their long time MC. Always thought he balanced things so well.
