Five on Friday - January 29, 2021

Let's hear it for Friday!  This was a fun week filled with a couple Zoom socials.  We are really looking forward to the weekend because Eric is off for the first time in months!  Before we do anything further, let's dive into my five for this week ~

1.  National Puzzle Day
Last year at the beginning of the pandemic, Eric and I dumped 2000 puzzle pieces on our kitchen table and spent hours hovering over them.  The end result was a beautiful Aimee Stewart masterpiece!  It was fun sitting there together, working on a common goal.  We talked, listened to music.  Tomorrow is National Puzzle Day and with the rainy weather forecasted for our area, it will be the perfect time to dump out a new puzzle and enjoy some time together.  As a matter of fact, Amazon will be dropping off a new puzzle on our doorstep just in time.  Celebrate on Saturday by starting a puzzle of your own!

2.  Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has it going on right now.  Not only is her album Chromatica great, she just got her own Oreos!  The cookies are pink-colored Golden Oreos with green colored creme centers.  The wafers feature designs inspired by the album and come in 6 cookie-packs or regular size packs for a limited time.  For some added fun, you can visit SingItWithOREO.com through April 30 and send uplifting "OREOgrams" to people you love.  You'll be able to create your own message or choose a message by Lady Gaga.  How fun!

3.  Major Melon Mountain Dew
Mountain Dew has a new flavor hitting the market - Major Melon.  Word on the street is it tastes like watermelon.  Guess we can all use a summertime flavor to get us through this winter!  The bright pink color would look pretty on your Valentine's table.  This new concoction comes in cans and bottles.  Walmart already has it available on their website.  Have you tried it yet?

4.  The Russian by James Patterson
The 13th book in James Patterson's Michael Bennett series hit the stands this week.  Here's the summary from Amazon ~
A serial killer crashes Detective Michael Bennett’s wedding.
Weeks before NYPD Detective Michael Bennett is to marry his longtime love, Mary Catherine, an assassin announces his presence in the city with a string of grisly murders. Each victim is a young woman. And each has been killed in a manner as precise as it was gruesome.

Tasked with working alongside the FBI, Bennett and his gung-ho new partner uncover multiple cold-case homicides across the country that fit the same distinctive pattern -- proving the perpetrator they seek is as experienced at ending lives as he is at evading detection.

Bennett promises Mary Catherine that the case won't affect their upcoming wedding. But as Bennett prepares to make a lifetime commitment, the killer has a lethal vow of his own to fulfill.

5.  Helpful tip...

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!  Depending on the weather, we might go eagle watching.  It doesn't sound like the weather is going to cooperate, so the backup plan is watching some movies at home and working on a puzzle.  Either way, it will be great to spend the weekend relaxing! See you next week!

  1. A puzzle sounds like a great idea! It's is supposed to be so so so cold this weekend and I am hoping to spend lots of time inside.

  2. Hmmm, may have to try that Mt Dew. It's the only thing I drink besides water and coffee, and only one bottle per week (old habits die hard!). Good luck with the eagle watching!
