It's Cold!

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday where I talk about something I'm thinking out loud about and invite you to link up and do the same.

Today I'm talking about what is on a lot of people's minds - it's COLD!  We have been experiencing negative and single-digit temps and it's pretty miserable to be outside for more than a nanosecond.  I have a few favorite things dealing with cold weather so I thought this might be a great time to share them with you!

A few years ago my mom and dad gifted me a windshield cover and it quickly became one of my favorite things.  If the weather is predicted to be snowing or icy, I put this baby on my windshield when I get to work and when I come out it's a breeze to whip it off.  Underneath is my cleaned-off windshield!  If parking outside is something you do, get one of these pronto!

It's amazing how much cold air comes in around the outlets on your outside walls.  We installed foam outlet sealers and they made a huge difference!  They were so easy to install and so economical.

We keep our house pretty cool when we are sleeping and are only up for a short time in the mornings before heading off to work.  For years we've been using this little heater in the bathroom when we are getting ready in the morning.  Lucky for me, Eric is the first one up so it's nice and toasty when I'm ready to shower.  It saves us from heating up the entire house when the only room we are in is the bathroom.  I've been known to put it under the table when I'm working on a project too to keep my feet warm.

I love keeping a stash of hand warmers around in the winter.  If we have to go out to shovel snow, they are perfect to slip in your gloves or boots.  It's amazing how much warmer I feel if I can at least keep my hands and feet warm!

These are just a few of my favorite winter items to have around.  What are some of your favorites?

Now it's your turn - what are you thinking out loud about today.  Link up and share!

  1. I never realized that cold air comes in through outlets. I’m going to have to see if this is happening at my house. Also I love the hot hands, we use them with the scouts.

  4. I don't mind the cold, but I do resent the ice that's taking over our drive way right now!

  5. Good Morning, Penny! What great idas for the cold weather! I agree, this cold is miserable and I am READY for spring! I'm dreaming of sitting outside in the morning sun, sipping my coffee. I told me hubs that this has secured for me the fact that we NEED to become snow birds when our time comes to retire. Iowa winters are brutal.
    Hope you are stayig warm!

  6. It is also very cold here in Ontario Canada. The hot hand warmers always make an appearance in everyone's stockings at Christmas. There is also to warmers of the same brand which are great for outdoor fun, keeping your toes toasty warm.

Thank you so much for hosting and I hope you are having an amazing week!

  7. I rarely think to use my hand warmers but I did get a pair of socks that run off batteries and keep my toes toasty warm.
