Five on Friday - October 4, 2024

Hi friends.  It's been an incredibly difficult week for so many people with the devastating news following Hurricane Helene. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost their loved ones, homes, and businesses. Please keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this challenging time.

Now, let's look at my five for today ~

1.  Blink
When I saw the trailer for Blink, I knew I wanted to see the movie.  It opens today.  In the midst of tragic news, this family makes the decision to see the world while they still could.  Here's the summary ~
When three of their four children are diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare and incurable disease that leads to severe visual impairment, the Pelletier family’s world changes forever. In the face of this life-altering news, Edith Lemay, Sébastien Pelletier and their children set out on a journey around the world to experience all its beauty while they still can. As they fill their memories with breathtaking destinations and once-in-a-lifetime encounters, the family’s love, resilience and unshakeable sense of wonder ensure that their uncertain future does not define their present.
Ina Garten's new book was released this week and I can't wait to get my hands on it!  Her story has always intriqued me.  She seems to have it all with her Barefoot Contessa show, authoring thirteen bestselling cookbooks and her adoring husband.  Now she's ready to tell her personal story!
Here, for the first time, Ina Garten presents an intimate, entertaining, and inspiring account of her remarkable journey. Ina’s gift is to make everything look easy, yet all her accomplishments have been the result of hard work, audacious choices, and exquisite attention to detail. In her unmistakable voice (no one tells a story like Ina), she brings her past and her process to life in a high-spirited and no-holds-barred memoir that chronicles decades of personal challenges, adventures (and misadventures) and unexpected career twists, all delivered with her signature combination of playfulness and purpose.

From a difficult childhood to meeting the love of her life, Jeffrey, and marrying him while still in college, from a boring bureaucratic job in Washington, D.C., to answering an ad for a specialty food store in the Hamptons, from the owner of one Barefoot Contessa shop to author of bestselling cookbooks and celebrated television host, Ina has blazed her own trail and, in the meantime, taught millions of people how to cook and entertain. Now, she invites them to come closer to experience her story in vivid detail and to share the important life lessons she learned along the way: do what you love because if you love it you’ll be really good at it, swing for the fences, and always Be Ready When the Luck Happens.

Halloween is just around the corner, and so are all those adorable treats with candy eyes! Stock up now so you'll be prepared. I've been spotting so many cute cupcakes and cookies decorated with them—I can hardly decide which ones to try making!

4.  Amazon Prime Days
Get ready - Prime Days are coming October 8 and 9.  During this time, you can get huge discounts and exclusive deals that will have you crossing off the items on your holiday list in record time!  What's on your shopping list?

5.  Hmmmm...

Hope you have a great weekend.  We are excited to watch our nephew's football game while our niece cheers on the sidelines.  Then we're visiting a friend to extend the fun through the weekend.  See you next week!

  1. Ohh! I do like the sound of Blink. It sounds like such a sad but heartwarming movie.
