Five on Friday - July 24, 2015

Happy Friday!!  Today's going to be a busy one for me -- my friend, Carol,  and I are decorating for a wedding and reception today.  Carol will be doing most of the decorating and I'll be doing whatever she tells me to do.  I love days like this -- we've had a vision of what this wedding is going to look like for months and have been working towards it.  Today we get to see it all come together!  Before I head out to make one bride's dream wedding become a reality, here's my five for this week.

1.  Emergency Bridal Bag
Every bride should have an emergency kit.  This is the one I put together for Suzy (this week's bride) and I will be delivering it to her today.  Inside is (hopefully) everything she would need should a mishap occur.  A few of the items tucked in the bag are a mini sewing kit, lint brush, mints, bottle of water, washcloth, cotton swaps, mirror, tissues, Tylenol, and personal fan,   This could also make an awesome shower gift.  What's the worse wedding mishap you've heard of?  I want to be prepared for anything that comes our way!

2.  Lights, Camera, Lashes!
I've fallen in love with a new mascara by Tarte - Lights, Camera, Lashes!  I'm telling you, this magical stuff definitely makes my eye lashes look longer and fuller.  Tarte says it's a 4-in-1 (lengthening, curling, volumizing and conditioning) plus it's dermatologist - and clinically - proven to increase the appearance of lash volume.  I believe them.  If you're in the market to try a new mascara, I can't recommend this one enough!

3.  Body Deodorant Towelettes
You know when you've been outside and it's like 100 degrees and you get kind of sweaty?!?  Well, these little babies are the answer to stinky pits.  I love having these in my purse and if you're out and about and need to freshen up a bit, just whip one of these out and wipe yourself off.  Great way to stay feeling fresh on those hot, humid days.

4.  Personal Air Conditioner
Speaking of hot, humid days -- I just purchased a couple of these to use this weekend during the wedding pictures.  The plan is to head to a local outdoor area for pictures and the forecast is saying it's going to be 91 degrees.  Just a bit toasty!  I don't want the bride to get overheated in her beautiful wedding dress, so my plan is to blast her with these mini air conditioners.  Eric and I have tested them at home and, sure enough, the air is pretty frigid coming out of these little gadget.  For $11 I thought they would be a decent investment.  I'm also thinking ahead and planning on taking them with me on my upcoming float trip.  Who says you have to be hot outside?

  2. An extra pair of nylons and clear polish - those were two things I had my bridal emergency kit. Every bride needs one of those and I'm always surprised to hear some don't use one at all.

  3. I would love one of those personal air conditioners! We are traveling to the south next month and I know it's going to be HOT down there.

  4. Okay, I need to get that personal air conditioner AND the deodorant towelettes. Those are both perfect ideas for a hot summer!

  5. One of the bad things that happened at my wedding was that a couple who had RSVP'd just the 2 of them decided to bring their 2 kids and take over other people's spots at the reception. So if you're helping with that, be kind and make sure there's an overflow table just in case - which we had but they decided to take matters into their own hands. Best advice I can give!!

  6. I love the little air conditioning units. I have been visiting relatives and they are way more comfortable in the heat than I am - I am going to order a couple of these today to get me through the next 10 days!

  7. That Personal Air Conditioner seems awesome! I might have to pick one up before my trip to Florida next month. I'll be there for two weeks and it's going to be a high of almost 100!

  9. I definitely have one of the portable air conditioners. When I moved to SoCal from Minnesota it was a rough transition. It works pretty well just make sure you bring a water bottle with you cause it's like a swamp cooler :-)

  11. This list is awesome. Number's 1-4 is what I need to have in mind on my wedding day. I actually like the idea on emergency kit. I'm not sure if wedding planners here in our country are preparing this kind of kit also.

  19. The worse wedding mishap I've known of happened to a niece. A family cat clawed the netting overlay. It was just horrible. A friend who was an excellent seamstress came to the rescue and saved the day!
Your bridal kit sounds like such a blessing!
I found you through MO Women Bloggers.
