Five on Friday - April 17, 2020

Happy Friday!  We've made through another week of sheltering in place and we are one week closer to get back to a more normal life.  I know Saturday and Sunday may look a lot like Monday through Friday, but there's something about knowing it's the weekend that still makes me happy!

Before I start the weekend, here's my five for this week ~

1.  Give Back Box
In honor of Earth Day on April 22, Loft has found a way to give back to our communities and minimize waste by partnering with Give Back Box.  It's a chance for you to give gently used clothing and accessories a second life by donating your items.  Go to Loft.com, print a free Give Back Box shipping label, attached it to a box and send it off.  It will ship for free and will then be donated to charities such as Goodwill and Salvation Army.  Great timing since many of us has been using our spare time to clean out closets!

2.  Virtual Babysitting
Are your kids driving you crazy and you just need a 30-minute break?  Have an important conference call and you really need to make sure your kids are occupied?  Check out the article on Popsugar found HERE.  Virtual babysitting is becoming quite the thing!  Who knew?  Here are the sites they mentioned to sign up ~
  • The Babysitting Company: Fill out the reservation form on their website or call (888)407-7822.
  • Minutes 4 Moms: Text 443-863-MOMS or email scheduling@minutes4moms.com.
  • Care.com: Set up a Care.com account (premium access is currently free for frontline workers and seniors during COVID-19), note in your bio that you are looking for "virtual babysitting," and connect with prospective caretakers to set up virtual sessions.
  • Respectful Caregiving: Sign up on Facebook for a free virtual story time every weekday at 4:45 P.T.
  • Broadway Babysitters: Sign up on their website for live virtual Playhouse classes with Broadway performers.

3.  One World:  Together At Home
Lady Gaga is pulling out all the stops to bring us a virtual concert this Saturday, April 18.  The two-hour global special will air at 8 p.m. Eastern and will feature Elton John, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Paul McCarney, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Shawn Mendes, among others (lots of others).  Lady Gaga has already secured a $35 million donation for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, so they will not be actively requesting donations.  The show will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.  Oh - and there's a six-hour pre-show streamed before the virtual concert!  The concert will be broadcast by ABC, NBS, and CBS.  Don't have cable?  No worries.  The virtual concert can be streamed on Hulu+, AT&T TV Now, YouTube TV, Fubo TV, Slight TV and Locast.  I know what I'm going to be doing on Saturday!

I found these babies on Amazon last week and couldn't order them fast enough.  They are scented sachets with hangers so you can easily hang them in closets or car.  They would also lay nicely in your drawer or hamper.  You get 12 in the box.  If lavender's not your thing, they come in five other scents.  Next time I put together goody bags, you better believe one of these will be in them!  What a fun little gift to surprise someone with!  Click HERE to get yours.

5.  I need to wear a mask...

Image may contain: possible text that says 'BREAKING NEWS Wearing a mask inside your home is now highly recommended. Not so much to prevent Covid-19 but to stop eating.'

We have a virtual happy hour tonight with some friends and I'm looking forward to opening a bottle of wine and relaxing a bit.  I finished the book I was reading (City of Girls) so I'm on the hunt for my next read.  Eric and I are also so close to finishing our Pandemic Puzzle No. 2.  Should have lots of fun stuff to chat about on Monday so stop by!
