Weekending - May 14, 2021

Hello friends!  Thanks for stopping by for our weekend rewind.  On Friday, my mom had surgery.  It was an emotional start to the weekend.  I can't say thank you enough to all the prayer warriors who were thinking of her and our family.  Thankfully, she came through the surgery and is well on her way to a full recovery!

My friends from Kansas City knew just how to put a smile on my face and warm my heart.  On Wednesday, I received the most beautiful arrangement from them.  They are just the best friends and I'm so thankful to have them in my life!

Despite the fact it looked like it could pour rain at any minute, Saturday morning I decided to pull on my favorite rain boots and go strawberry picking at a local farm.  If you've read my blog for a hot minute you've heard me mention Eckert's.  They have a large field of strawberries that are just starting to ripen.  All morning long I was humming The Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever song.

It took no time to fill my basket and have plenty of strawberries for the strawberry rhubarb pie I was making for dessert that evening.

For the last couple of weeks, buying and planting flowers had been on my list of things to do.  For a plethora of reasons, our planters were still empty.

After strawberry picking, I ran into Sam's to pick up a few things and right by the door they had beautiful flower planters.  It was like a sign!  I picked up three, came home, and in less than 10 minutes the area looked like this ~

Mission accomplished and I checked that off my list!

My dad came over after visiting my mom in the hospital on Saturday.  The hospital has a rule that only one person can visit a day, so we were anxious to hear how Mom was progressing.  Our son and daughter-in-law joined us too and we had a nice evening having dinner and playing cards.

Sunday brought rain in the afternoon so we decided it was the perfect time to see a movie.  We chose to see the Billy Crystal / Tiffany Haddish new film Here Today.  We both liked it.  A lot.  Tiffany Haddish was great!  There were lots of funny moments and I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me cry.

I'll be sharing a strawberry muffin recipe I made with some of those luscious berries I picked later this week, so pop back in to get it!

  1. So glad to hear your mom made it through her surgery just fine. Those flowers (both the ones you received and the ones you planted) are beautiful.
