Let's Make Honey Beer Bread

We've been living through some cold, snowy days and when it's cold outside, I like our house to have that warm, cozy feeling on the inside.  One of the ways I try to achieve this warm feeling is by cooking a lot of comfort food.  Recently I made a loaf of honey beer bread to go with our favorite Three Bean Casserole.  It definitely warmed our souls!

Here's What You Need
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons honey
1 bottle (12 ounce) beer
4 Tablespoons (half stick) butter, melted

Here's What You Do

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.  Grease a 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Using a wooden spoon, stir the beer and honey into the dry ingredients until just mixed.  The recipe I was using (I honestly have no idea where it came from), mentioned heating the honey to make it easier to blend in.

Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan.

Then spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter.

Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Serve immediately.

This recipe is quick and easy to make.  We slathered butter on our slices and they were delicious!  Just the thing to have on a cold, wintry day.

  1. I have never heard of honey beer bread (which I thought said honey BEAR bread the first time I read it-- until I got to the ingredient list! LOL). It looks delicious though.
