Five on Friday - July 8, 2016

Happy Friday!  Have you enjoyed the short work week?  As much as I loved having Monday off, it just meant that I had to work extra hard for the four remaining days this week.  Crazy how that works!  But I'm so excited for the weekend.  Eric surprised me by planning a little weekend getaway to Chicago!

Before we board the train to the Windy City, here's my five for this week ~

1.  Terracotta Warriors
So while we're in Chicago, the plan is to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibit going on right now at The Field Museum.  Eric had heard me talking about this exhibit and knew I would love to see it. On Saturday we are going to explore these guards of the tomb and learn a thing or two about them. Oh, and watch a 3D movie.  Can't wait!

2.  Hands High Apparel
Have you heard about Jimmy Fallon's new creation in sports wear?  It's call Hands High.  Now your favorite sport's logo can be seen when you're busy doing the wave.  The logo is in the armpit area.  How clever is that?!?  I'm very intrigued so we might have to be adding some new sports shirts to our wardrobe.   It's pretty ingenious if you ask me.  Why didn't we think of that?

3.  National Sugar Cookie Day
Saturday is National Sugar Cookie Day (who knew).  I love a good sugar cookie!  My friend Linda's mom has the very best recipe.  I blogged about it HERE a while back so I thought I would mention it just in case you are wanting to whip up a batch for the national day of sugar cookie celebration.  These babies just melt in your mouth!  Oh so good!

4.  Secret Life of Pets
Looking for something do to this weekend with the whole family?  Inside, out of the heat.  You could go see The Secret Life of Pets!  This flick looks so darn cute in all the previews I've seen.  Here's the summary, "Max (Louis C.K.) is a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke, a giant and unruly canine. During their walk outside, they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and wind up in a truck that's bound for the pound. Luckily, a rebellious rabbit named Snowball swoops in to save the doggy duo from captivity. In exchange, Snowball demands that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who've done them wrong."

5.  This is so what Eric would be thinking:

Hope your weekend is fantastic!  See you back next week with a summary of the weekend.  Chicago here we come!

  2. Hope you have a great weekend in Chicago! We took an anniversary trip there a few years ago and loved the Field Museum. I really hope to go to Xi'an someday to see the terracotta warriors, so I'd be really interested in that special exhibit, too!

  6. I'm dying to see The Secret Life of Pets. VW invited us for a special screening and sure enough, it's while we're away so we'll have to see it when we get back.
    Take care Penny.
