For the first time in a long while, this weekend almost felt normal. Maybe I'm just getting more used to donning a mask when we're out. But all in all, it was a pretty nice weekend. Let's rewind ~
Friday I had decided to take a vacation day. With a couple of our trips getting canceled this year, I now have a few extra vacation days to burn. Taking a few three day weekends can take place and this past weekend was one of them. I got up early and worked on a couple wedding projects that needed to be done. Then Eric and I lounged in the blowup pool for a large part of the afternoon. I'm not going to lie - it was great! When I turned on my beach sounds app and shut my eyes, it was almost like being at the ocean.
Before returning to the wedding projects that needed to get done, I sat down with Eric to watch the new Tom Hanks movie Greyhound. I had intended to do some work while watching the movie, but my eyes were glued to the screen and I couldn't look away. We both thought it was good. Did you watch it?
Saturday morning I was up bright and early again to finish making 110 wedding invitations that would be delivered in the afternoon. I was on the road by 9 to set up for a bridal shower that was taking place in the afternoon. The bridesmaids hosting the shower were great to work with and we were done with the setup in just a couple hours.
After the setup, I rushed back home to pick up the invitations and Eric. We delivered the invitations and picked up the party supplies from the shower. One of our favorite restaurants, Salt and Smoke, was in the vicinity so we did curbside pickup and enjoyed dinner at home. It was great to sit down and relax after a couple busy days!
Sunday morning we were back up and at it early. Weeks ago I had purchased 9:00 am field passes to Eckert's for pick your own peaches and blackberries. The morning was perfect to be outside!
Everyone is required to wear masks. There are hand washing stations when you arrive at the field and you're encouraged to wash your hands before and after picking. Overall, I felt safe and there was more than enough room for social distancing in the fields.
We made a morning of it by getting breakfast in their restaurant when we were done picking fruit. Now I just have to decide what I'm going to do with a half peck of blackberries and a bunch of peaches!
We came home, hopped back in the blowup pool, and soaked up the great weather. Later in the afternoon, we joined our neighbors in their real pool. It was a great way to spend the day! And since our church service was online, we watched it before going to bed.
Now it's back to work and I'm already looking forward to next weekend. Guess what I'm doing again next weekend. If you guessed hanging out in the blowup, you're right!
I need to get out to Eckerts. I've never had their breakfast, thats a good idea!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great weekend! I've been checking to see when peaches will be ready for picking up here; we just love picking fresh fruit.
ReplyDeleteHave mercy, those blackberries and peaches look divine. Wish we had somewhere to pick fruit like that. Well, we do have peaches in our own backyard...ha!! But they are not nearly as impressive as the one you shared.
ReplyDeleteI am so ready to go to the theater to see a movie. And more importantly, to eat popcorn. We watched Greyhound for our anniversary celebration at home. I thought it was very good, too. And wound up giving it my full attention rather than doing other things and listening to it.
