Let's Make Maple Bacon Onion Flatbread

You might recall a few weeks ago me and a group of friends attended a cooking class at a local store called Fezziwig's where they demonstrated how to make flatbreads and summer salads.  Well, since that class we just can't get enough of these Maple Bacon Onion Flatbreads!!  You really need to give these a try ~

Here's What You Need
Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Maple Bacon Onion Jam
Sliced Red Onion
Sliced Pear
Blue Cheese
Naan Flatbread

Here's What You Do
Turn on one side of your gas grill and allow to preheat.  If you are using a charcoal grill, keep the fire to one side.

Thinly slice your red onion and pear.  Sit aside.

Brush both sides of your flatbread with garlic olive oil.  Fezziwig's sells this amazing stuff and you can get it HERE.

Now add the magic sauce ~ Stonewall Kitchen's Maple Bacon Onion Jam.

Next up is to layer the thinly sliced red onion, pears and blue cheese.

Pop it on the unlit side of your grill, allowing the indirect heat to melt the cheese.  For me, this step takes around 5 minutes.  Don't walk away from your grill.  As soon as you see the cheese begin to melt, move it on over to the direct heat side and stand by.  Within just a few minutes the flatbread will have grill marks on the bottom and you will be ready to remove it from the heat. (I was also fixing a bbq chicken flatbread at the same time which is pictured behind the maple bacon onion creation).

Once you have the flatbread off the heat, drizzle a little honey over it.

Your meal is done and ready to eat!  You can literally have this baby done from start to finish in 15 minutes.  It was the perfect meal when we had over 100 degree days and I didn't want the heat from the oven in the house.  I'm thinking the next time we go camping, this might be on the menu!

We also have enjoyed this creation as an appetizer.  I'm telling you, they are delicious!  Enjoy!

  6. I have been itching to try Naan bread for ages but I never know what to use it for other than dipping it into thick sauces. So I never buy it. But this look so wonderful. And very simple (And summery I might add!) to make. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!I just added it to my bookmark!
