Now that December is here, I'm thinking about the looming shipping deadlines for Christmas. Fortunately, I don't have a ton of packages that have to ship, but the few I do have I would like to arrive before the big day. I also haven't even started my Christmas cards, so that's a mailing deadline I need to think about!

Five on Friday - November 25, 2022

Happy Day-After Thanksgiving!  Hope you had a wonderful day yesterday and was able to reflect on all the things you are thankful for.  We got to spend the day with part of our family and even though we missed seeing some, it was great to be surrounded with the ones we were with.  Now, let's get to my five for this week ~

1.  The Fabelmans
Steven Spielberg is working his magic again in the latest movie he directed.  The Fabelmans is playing in theaters now and I can't wait to see it!  Critics are loving it and so are the audiences who have seen it proving Spielberg still has the magic.  Here's the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes:
Young Sammy Fabelman falls in love with movies after his parents take him to see "The Greatest Show on Earth." Armed with a camera, Sammy starts to make his own films at home, much to the delight of his supportive mother.

2.  Mountain Dew Fruit Quake
Be on the lookout for Mountain Dew's newest flavor - Fruit Quake.  It's a pretty bold move to name the drink after fruit cakes because fruit cakes typically aren't on people's most loved thing list.  But they are giving it a go.  The can of Fruit Quake says "with a blast of artificial fruitcake flavor".  I'm intrigued enough I want to give it a try.  How about you?  Will you be trying this new flavor?

Looking for a gift for your girlfriends or something to take to a gift exchange party?  Amazon has this jade roller on sale for Black Friday.  I own one of these and they are magnificent!  It immediately relieves the muscle tension in my face when I glide it over my cheeks and forehead.  It reduces facial puffiness and helps your skin look fresh.  It will also shrink your pores and tighten your skin.  Shoot, grab one for yourself too!

4.  Holiday Earrings
Now that Thanksgiving is officially behind us, it's time to start thinking about Christmas!  Deck your ears with a pair of holiday baubles!  Here's some of my favorites from Amazon.  Hint:  these would also be great Secret Santa gifts.

5.  Good luck with your Black Friday shopping!
Good luck with all your Black Friday shopping today.  We have a wedding that we're helping with on Saturday, so my Black Friday shopping will be pretty minimal this year.  My friend from KC is arriving today to also help with the wedding. This wedding is going to be beautiful and I can't wait to get it all set up!  Stop in next week to see the pictures.

Five on Friday - November 18, 2022

Hello!  Today I'm sharing my five for the week.  Here we go ~

1.  A Christmas Story Christmas
As of yesterday, you can watch the sequel to the favorite holiday movie A Christmas Story on HBO Max.  This new story, A Christmas Story Christmas, follows the aging Ralphie's attempts to recreate his idyllic childhood Christmas for his own family.  Are the reviews good?  No.  Will I watch it anyway?  Yes.  And if you really want a piece of this nostalgic movie, the original Christmas Story house just went on the market in Cleveland.

2.  Thanksgiving Placements for the Kids
Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  You might be wondering how you are going to keep the kids occupied for the entire day while you are busy in the kitchen.  These placements are guaranteed to keep them entertained for a while!  Add them to your kids' table and you might even have a few of the adults want to sit there.  The pack comes with 12 placemats so there will be plenty to go around.

Michelle Obama's new book was released this week.  Here's the summary from Amazon ~
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with readers, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Michelle Obama offers readers a series of fresh stories and insightful reflections on change, challenge, and power, including her belief that when we light up for others, we can illuminate the richness and potential of the world around us, discovering deeper truths and new pathways for progress. Drawing from her experiences as a mother, daughter, spouse, friend, and First Lady, she shares the habits and principles she has developed to successfully adapt to change and overcome various obstacles—the earned wisdom that helps her continue to “become.” She details her most valuable practices, like “starting kind,” “going high,” and assembling a “kitchen table” of trusted friends and mentors. With trademark humor, candor, and compassion, she also explores issues connected to race, gender, and visibility, encouraging readers to work through fear, find strength in community, and live with boldness.

“When we are able to recognize our own light, we become empowered to use it,” writes Michelle Obama. A rewarding blend of powerful stories and profound advice that will ignite conversation, The Light We Carry inspires readers to examine their own lives, identify their sources of gladness, and connect meaningfully in a turbulent world.

4.  Turkey Stuffing Potato Chips
Aldi's is giving us a copy new Thanksgiving-flavored treats.  They have potato chips in two new Thanksgiving flavors.  You can pick between Turkey Stuffing and Garlic Mashed-flavored.  Each bag is $1.99.  I'm going to pick up a bag of each and have a taste test to see which one is my favorite.
5.  Thanksgiving plan...

Have a great weekend!  We have a lot of fun things going on.  Dinner with our son and daughter-in-law, breakfast with friends, and on Sunday I'm hosting a wedding workday at our house.  Pop in next week to read all about it.

Let's Make Parmesan Chicken

Welcome friends to Thinking Out Loud Thursday where I share something on my mind and invite you to link up and do the same.  Today I'm sharing a long-standing family favorite recipe - Parmesan Chicken!  This recipe came into my life years ago when a friend served it for dinner at her house.  I had to get the recipe as soon as I tasted it.

Here's What You Need

1 cup crushed herb-seasoned stuffing mix (I use Pepperidge Farm)
2/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped, fresh parley
3/4 cup butter
1 large clove garlic, crushed
6 chicken breasts

Here's What You Do
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Mix stuffing, cheese and parsley together in a small bowl.

Melt butter in a skillet.  Add the garlic while butter is melting so the flavors will blend.

Dip chicken in the butter/garlic mixture.  Roll in the crumbs and place in a baking dish.

Sprinkle the remaining stuffing mixture and butter over the top of the chicken.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes, or until chicken is done.

This recipe can be made ahead of time and baked when you are ready.  Many times, I put this together the night before and just pop it in the oven for dinner the next night.

Hope you like it as much as we do!

Weekending - November 11, 2022

Mondays always seem to get here so fast, but this week I'm extending the weekend into today too!  I have a bunch of vacation to use before the end of the year, so I took today and tomorrow off to regroup and get a jump on the holidays.  The weekend went by so fast that I'm really not that sure how much of a headstart on the holidays I'll actually get done!  Here's how it went down ~

Friday night I met up with a couple friends from work at a new-to-me place called Scarlett's Wine Bar.  This adorable little place is located in the Central West End area of St. Louis.  Their outside area would be a great place to hang out if the weather had stayed in the high 70s like it was earlier in the week.  We were able to grab a table inside for dinner and drinks.  We shared a fig and pear flatbread that was to die for!  The sangria was pretty delicious, too!  I can't wait to go back.

Saturday morning we woke up to quite the surprise - SNOW!  And not just a little dusting, but several inches of the white stuff.  So much for the 77 degree temp we had on Thursday!

With the weather so icky outside, we decided it was the perfect day to stay in and binge-watch The Crown.  Man, we love that show!  Season 5 dropped last week and we are closing in on seeing all 10 of the new episodes.  Elizabeth Debicki plays Princess Diana this season.  I wonder how long she studied the real Princess because she has her head tilts down perfectly!

Saturday night we attend the NAMI Gala.  For those of you not aware of this organization, NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness.  We love supporting this group!  It was fun to get dressed up and see some friends we hadn't connected with in quite a while.

Sunday morning we met our son and daughter-in-law at another new-to-us place for breakfast.  June's is located in the heart of Shiloh.  It's the cutest little coffee house!  I tried the waffle and it was delicious.  They had several other pastries that I can't wait to go back and try.

From breakfast, we headed over the Webster Groves, Missouri to do a demo for the company Eric works for.  They were having their holiday walk and the streets were busy!  Eric is the rep in the St. Louis area for Thelma's Treats.  Have you ever tasted their ice cream sandwiches?  If not, you don't know what you are missing!  We handed out right at 1,000 samples and I didn't hear anyone say they didn't love them.

When we got home, I changed our message board to a Thanksgiving message.  This poor board had been neglected for months (the last message was for St. Patrick's Day!), so I'm happy to bring it up to date.

The main attraction Sunday night was Yellowstone!  It's a show Eric and I both enjoy watching so we are excited to have it back.

And that's a wrap on the weekend!  Hope you had a great one too and your week is off to a good start.
