Thinking Out Loud Thursday - August 2, 2018

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  Eric and I are on vacation this week and I'm wishing the days weren't going by quite so fast.  We are having a great time and I'll be doing a post about it soon, but today I'm thinking out loud about a book I just finished.

Some months back I joined a virtual book club.  Honestly, it's been really fun voting on what book to read, seeing the comments from the other readers and commenting myself.  One of my favorite things about book clubs are so many times the group chooses books that I would not normally read.  That's the case with this month's book - More From Life

More From Life: A Funny and Feel-Good Romantic Comedy by [Crabb, S J]
Available to purchase HERE
This book is a fun little read and is currently super cheap on Amazon.  Like less than a dollar cheap.  Click HERE to grab a copy for yourself.   It was a good beach read and I was able to get through the entire book the first day and a half of vacation.

Here's what Amazon says about More From Life ~
Romance, humour and not just one happy-ever-after. A deliciously romantic and giggling read about love, loss and starting again by the Amazon Top 100 best-selling Author S J Crabb
My Kids live in Cyber Space and my mother lives in Cloud Cuckoo land. Me - I live in denial.
Somehow, I've got to the stage in life where my teenagers obviously hate me, my mother abandons me for exciting adventures and my ex-husband is getting re-married.
I am left gazing lustfully at just about any fit guy in an HRT induced belief that they would be attracted to me.
Is this really what I've become?
Have I reached the point in life where I should give up and accept my fate?
The trouble is, I always wanted more from life and now it appears to be on fast-forward.
So, it's decision time. Do I just accept my lot with resignation and gratitude? Or do I take control and embrace the unknown?
What would you do?
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Follow Amanda's path to re-discover the girl she once was before the woman she became took over.
Here are some phrases that caught my attention in the book ~
In my eyes, you only get one life and there is no rewind button on it.
Life is cruel, we all know that.  It's filled with injustice and there's no reasoning with it.
The magic was replaced with real life and the dreams turned to dust in my eyes.
Sometimes it's the lessons we learn along the way that shape our future.  We need to learn hard lessons to move forward with no fear.
Don't settle for the ordinary in life.  You only get one shot at it so make it count.  Make every second count and don't let the sun set on a day without having tried to make it better in some way.  This world you live in now has endless possibilities for someone like you and you should approach it with a clear head and a quest for adventure.
Whenever I read a book, I always run across words I don't know the meaning of or I just haven't heard them in a while.  Here's a few from this book `
jodhpurs (full-length trousers)
macabre (disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury)
surreptitiously (obtained, done, made, etc., by stealth; secret or unauthorized; clandestine)
banal (so lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring)
Overall, I thought More From Life is a book to add to your to be read list if you're looking for something light and entertaining.

Now it's your turn - what's on your mind today?  Link up and share what you're thinking out loud about today!

  3. I like your review better than I liked the book. But it is a fun read. And a real bargain. Enjoyed some reading some of the quotes that spoke to you. "The magic was replaced with real life and the dreams turned to dust in my eyes." Beautiful imagery.
