Thinking Out Loud Thursday - January 10, 2019

Hey there!  Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  Thursdays are for thinking out loud and I invite you to link up below and share what you are thinking out loud about today.

Here we are - already 10 days into a brand new year.  I have to admit, my year was off to a lackluster start.  I got sick over New Year's, so I spent the first couple days just trying to recover.  Just because the calendar had turned over a new month, my motivation hadn't really picked up any momentum.  Things I had hoped to organize and clean between Christmas and New Year's didn't happen and my poor bedroom became the dumping ground for all kinds of clutter.

Last night proved to be the jump start to making 2019 the great year I had hoped it would be.  I attended the encore performance of Rachel Hollis's movie Made for More.

Rachel is the author is the best seller book Girl, Wash Your Face.  I read it last fall and fell in love with Rachel, the book and her witty sense of humor.  She tells it like it is and I have completely drank her Kool-Aid.  She would be my gal if I could invite one person to dinner.

Made for More is a 90-minute documentary which takes a close look inside the two-day RISE event Rachel created and a bonus 30 minute coaching session.  Yes, it might be said that the movie is just one big advertisement for the RISE conference -- but regardless, I found it to be as motivating as the book and left me wanting more.  So much more that the minute I got home, I visited the website to see where and when the next RISE event was being held.  One's coming to Minneapolis in June!  Paging down I realized that every ticket from the $1800 VIP tickets to the $200 Terrace tickets were sold.  Now I'm just on a mission to attend one of these events.  Rachel -- if you're read this please come to St. Louis!

She also did a fantastic sales job on her new book that will be coming out in March, Girl Stop Apologizing.  (Yes, I'm pre-ordered!)  Here's Amazon's summary ~
Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women not living into their full potential. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough.
In Girl, Stop Apologizing, #1 New York Times bestselling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people—whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee—instead of learning how to own who they are and what they want. With a challenge to women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and believing in yourself.
                           Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals by [Hollis, Rachel]

One of the things I love about reading or listening to Rachel is her drive to have women be more accepting of ourselves and of each other.  She pushes you to be your best self AND support others who are trying to do the same.  Her no excuse attitude drives me to reach higher and dream bigger.  Just the boost I needed to start 2019!

The coaching session alone at the end of the movie was worth the price of admission.  Rachel covered five areas to becoming the best you and you better believe I'm going to be working on all five things!  Her five were ~

                                       * Physical Environment
                                       * Personal Environment
                                       * Community
                                       * Morning Routine
                                       * Habits

Over the course of the next five weeks, I'm going to do a deeper dive into each one during my Thursday Thinking Out Loud post.  So next Thursday will be physical environment.  Rachel spoke to how your physical environment can help motivate you and if your physical space is a mess, you might have a hard time not being a mess right along with it.

Hope you join along and add your thoughts each week.  Let's all work together to make 2019 our best year yet!

Now it's your turn - what are you thinking out loud about today?  Link up and join share!

  4. What a coincidence...except there are no coincidences in this world...when you mentioned Made for More in your email, I didn't know what it was...yet I just began reading Girl, Wash Your Face two days ago!! I haven't heard of RISE but now my interest is piqued. Can't wait to read more of Girl, Wash Your Face and to join you for the next few weeks for Thinking Out Loud. Good stuff!!
