Five on Friday - October 11, 2019

Happy Friday!  Fall has definitely arrived in our area this week with the leaves slowly starting to show their colors.  With the high temperatures this weekend being in the 60s, I'm looking forward to dragging out my fall clothes and boots.

Enjoy the five for today ~

1.  El Camino:  A Breaking Bad Movie
Were you a Breaking Bad fan?  It took me a few attempts, but it eventually grew on me and we were hooked.  Netflix is bringing us the next chapter in the form of a movie and it drops today.  El Camino  picks up as fugitive Jesse Pinkman attempts to outrun his past.  We will definitely be squeezing in watching this one sometime over the weekend!

2.  Treat Yo Self Day
Thanks to Parks and Rec, October 13 (this Sunday) will forever be known as Treat Yo Self Day.  What is one thing you would really like to treat yourself to?  A day of shopping?  Taking a bubble bath?  Grabbing lunch with a friend?  Heck, do them all!  Treat yo self!

3.  Pumpkin Spice Liquidless Diffuser
In the fall, I love the scent of pumpkin spice.  I was always reluctant to use an oil diffuser at work because I was afraid it would somehow get knocked over and spill oil everywhere.  I've found the most perfect solution at Pier1 - liquidless diffuser!  That's right, they are sticks you put in a little vase and the wonderful scent of crushed vanilla beans blended with cinnamon-spiced pumpkin puree and pure nutmeg, sweetened by brown sugar and warm cloves fill the air.  Just by using one stick, my office now has the essence of a crisp, fall day.  Makes me love going to work!  Need some in your life?  Click HERE to purchase.

4.  The Giver of Stars: A Novel
Earlier this month, Jojo Moyes newest novel was released.  I absolutely loved her Me Before You trilogy and am excited to add this one to my TBR list.  Here's the synopsis from Amazon:
Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically.
The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything. They will be joined by three other singular women who become known as the Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky.

What happens to them--and to the men they love--becomes an unforgettable drama of loyalty, justice, humanity and passion. These heroic women refuse to be cowed by men or by convention. And though they face all kinds of dangers in a landscape that is at times breathtakingly beautiful, at others brutal, they’re committed to their job: bringing books to people who have never had any, arming them with facts that will change their lives.
Based on a true story rooted in America’s past, The Giver of Stars is unparalleled in its scope and epic in its storytelling. Funny, heartbreaking, enthralling, it is destined to become a modern classic--a richly rewarding novel of women’s friendship, of true love, and of what happens when we reach beyond our grasp for the great beyond.
This book is already slated to become a motion picture, so if you like reading the book before seeing the movie you better get on it!

5.  My kind of National Day....
Image may contain: text
Enjoy the fall weekend!  We'll be watching our beloved Cardinals take on the Washington Nationals tonight and tomorrow.  I'm also having a meeting with a couple to discuss their upcoming wedding.  Lots of fun stuff in the works!  Pop back in next week to see our Halloween decorations.

  3. Did you watch the movie? We watched Breaking Bad and enjoyed it, too. Hadn't realized a movie was coming out. Will hit PC up to watch it one of these nights.

Those diffusers sound pretty delicious. I have a leather wax I am melting right now. It smells like fall to me, too.

Cheering for the Cardinals and our 'Stros!!
