Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday! I'll share what I'm thinking out loud about today and hope you link up your post below and do the same!
Fall began in late September and I was so busy doing my side hustle of wedding planning that I didn't really stop to let it soak in that the season was changing. Officially fall began on September 23 and will go through December 21. I've been listening to Rachel Hollis talk about finishing the last 90 days of the year strong, so I'm going to write down my fall goals in hopes to stay focused and intentional as the year winds down.
1. Take a hike in the fall foliage
There are multiple great places to hike around the St. Louis area and I want to do just that this fall as the leaves are in full glory.
2. Plan my birthday trip to Vegas
In November, my friend Linda and I will be boarding a plane and heading to Vegas. Seeing Aerosmith has been a bucket list item for both of us and we will be crossing it off after this trip! We'll be in Vegas for a couple days and I want to make the most of it - which will require a little planning.
3. Go to an author event
Sitting in the audience while an author describes their journey to complete their latest creation is one of my favorite things to do. Luckily, the St. Louis County Library host several authors every month. I have my eye on one I'd like to attend and now all I need to do is read the book and attend the event.
4. Switch my summer and winter clothes around
This task gets more daunting every year. I always think I'm going to do a thorough job going through all my clothes and weed out the ones that I really don't need or will never wear again. Then I get in a hurry and end up doing a rush job. Wish me luck on getting this one done!
5. Try a couple new recipes
It seems like I do more cooking when the weather gets cooler outside. I've got literally mountains of recipes that I print or save from magazines that are doing me no good unless I would actually make them. Could this be the fall that I try some? I sure hope so!
6. Get a new bed
The bed we have in our master bedroom I've had for 30 years - and hated it for 29.5 of them. Why, oh why, we haven't replaced it before now I honestly don't know. We've replaced the mattress a few times, but never the actual furniture bed. It's time. Way past time.
7. Watch a Cardinals playoff game by the fire pit on our patio
This one was a little touch and go because the Cardinals kept us in suspense until the very last game of the regular season before capturing their playoff spot. They've now made it to the NLCS and I have this vision of sitting on our back patio, fire in the fire pit and the lights we strung around twinkling, watching a Cardinals victory.
8. Decorate my three-tier stand for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas
I am absolutely loving the three-tier stand I got for my birthday last year. With three big holidays coming up, I want to adorn it with items for each one! I've purchased a lot of Halloween things to go on it and I have a pretty good idea what I want to do for Thanksgiving. Now I just need to make it happen.
9. Do a volunteer project
It's been a while since I volunteered for a good cause. With World Food Day coming up, I'm sure I'll be able to find someplace to volunteer.
10. Have a gathering at my house
Hosting people at our house is truly one of my favorite things to do. Fall is the perfect time to invite friends over and enjoy the season!
That's what I'm thinking out loud about today. What's on your mind? Link up and share!
Hope you find a bed you love!! That's a long time to have to put up with one you don't. We bought very heavy, dark furniture when we married and now everything is so light and airy. Our bedroom feels oppressive. But we can't afford to get something new.
ReplyDeleteHave really enjoyed decorating my 2 tier stand. Fun to look for mini holiday objects for it.
I am hoping to try new chili recipes. We had our first one last week. It was pretty tasty but not terribly different from what I would normally make.
I have a Thinking Out Loud post to link up but have to finish it. In the meantime, linked up my autumn goals.
I just swapped out my summer clothes for fall/winter clothes yesterday. I think short sleeve weather has officially ended.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fun time in November for your birthday! I have to change over my summer to fall and winter in my closet and dreading it. I am the same as you when it comes to this task. Have a great day and thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteVery nice goals you have there.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great Birthday in November, Happy Fall too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting!!
