Five on Friday - September 20, 2024

Whew - the week is almost over!  Welcome to Five on Friday.  I can't wait to share my five things with you so let's go ~

1.  Super / Man:  The Christopher Reeve Story
We already have our tickets to see the Super/Man:  The Christopher Reeve story on Saturday.  It's only playing in movie theaters for one day, so if you want to see it get your tickets!  Here's the summary ~
The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care - all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.

2.  Starbucks Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte
Starbucks has a new drink out and man does it sound scrumptious!  Step aside pumpkin spice flavor - the Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte is available now.  I'm hearing this latte is like homemade pecan pie in a cup.  It's made with blonde espresso, creamy oat milk and hints of browned butter and nutty pecan.  They finish it off with a sprinkling of pecan crunch topping.  How good does that sound!  It also comes in a cold version.  With the iced version, you also can get a layer of salted pecan cream cold foam on top!  I might have to try both to see which one is my favorite!

Attention, Gilmore Girls fans! A new book has just been released for you. The Third Gilmore Girl, Kelly Bishop's memoir, hit the shelves this week. Here's a quick summary ~
Kelly Bishop’s long, storied career has been defined by landmark achievements, from winning a Tony Award for her turn in the original Broadway cast of A Chorus Line to her memorable performance as Jennifer Grey’s mother in Dirty Dancing. But it is probably her iconic role as matriarch Emily in the modern classic Gilmore Girls that cemented her legacy.

Now, Bishop reflects on her remarkable life and looks towards the future with The Third Gilmore Girl. She shares some of her greatest stories and the life lessons she’s learned on her journey. From her early transition from dance to drama, to marrying young to a compulsive gambler, to the losses and achievements she experienced—among them marching for women’s rights and losing her second husband to cancer—Bishop offers a rich, genuine celebration of her life.

Full of witty insights and featuring a special collection of personal and professional photographs, The Third Gilmore Girlis a warm, unapologetic, and spirited memoir from a woman who has left indelible impressions on her audiences for decades and has no plans on slowing down.
Our mailbox is about to get a seasonal upgrade with a pumpkin-themed wrap! I love refreshing its look as the seasons change. Currently, it's decorated with sunflowers, but pumpkin season is just around the corner! These wraps are incredibly easy to install—just slip the vinyl over the top, and the magnets keep it securely in place, no tools are needed.

5.  How long would it take you to put this puzzle together?
Now let's get this weekend started!  We don't have a ton on the agenda.  Having just returned from vacation, there's a lot of catching up to do.  If you missed the recap of the first two days of our trip, you can catch it HERE.  I'll be back next week with more.  Hope to see you then!  Have a great weekend!

  1. I don't even drink coffee and think that latte sounds and looks delicious! I can't believe I never picked up on the fact that "Emily Gilmore" was the mom in dirty dancing but the moment I read that it clicked that of course she was!
