What's That Smell?!?

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday with X-tremely V and me!  So glad you stopped by!  If you're a blogger, I hope you link up below.  We'd love to get to know you.
X-tremely V, #thinkingoutloudthursday
Last Saturday we created a problem.  Eric and I hopped out of bed early to head to my home town.  Evaluating the length of our grass and the upcoming activities we had going on, we knew we were going to have to mow the lawn before leaving.  That meant we had to start the law mowers early (so, so sorry neighbors and no, this isn't the problem I'm referring to!).

Eric uses the rider and I use the push mower.  I push for good reason - I am flat out dangerous on the rider.  Like the time I flipped the mower over on top of me.  But I digress - that's a story for another day.  With us cutting at the crack of dawn, the grass was wet.

Well, we quickly cut through the yard, put the mowers away and headed out of town.  The problem happened when we got home.  The wet grass had baked in the heat of the summer day under the mowers in the garage and the smell was atrocious!  Eric had quite the job in front of him hosing down the stinky mowers and getting that odor out of the garage.  Luckily for us, the smell hadn't permeated the entire house.

All of that brings me to today's post -- I'm thinking out loud about a couple of products I love to smell.  You know, the ones that you want to just close your eyes and take a big breath in so the scent moves slowly through your body and makes a smile spread over your face.

One of the things I love is the day cream I use.  Acure Day Cream has the wonderful scent of citrus.  When I put it on in the morning after washing my face, I try to pause and enjoy the smell as it fills my senses.  Ahhhhh.  Just thinking about it makes me relax a little bit.  Love this stuff!  Does your morning lotion start your day off right?

During the day, when I need a scent fix I turn to my Skeem Perfume Roller.  My favorite scent - Flower Market.  Pop this little baby out of your purse, give it a little roll on your wrist and you are good to go.  Or if you're single and you see a cute guy heading your way, let him get a little whiff of this on your wrist and you probably have him hooked.

Before going to bed, I love to hit the pillows and sheets with a spray of my homemade lavender spray that I blogged about HERE last August.  So easy to make and so enjoyable to smell.  At the end of a long day, it's wonderful to lay your head back against the pillows and inhale this relaxing scent.  Here's the recipe again in case you missed it the first time around.

Lavender Spray
2 cups distilled water
1 oz. (2 tablespoons) vodka or rubbing alcohol
1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon lavender oil (depending on how strong you like your spray)

So there's my favorite scents morning, noon and night.  What are some of your favorites?

  1. I love the smell of oranges in the morning to wake me up, or something citrus-y helps a lot. Love that roller perfume, I'll have to check it out, far more portable than what I currently use.

  2. Citrus is a favorite daytime scent for me. Just posted this on Instagram yesterday. By the way Penny, are you on instagram? Citrus energizes me and lavender, that too is my night time scent. I rub the oil on the bottoms of my feet. Your spray is going to be my craft for the day. Just need to get rubbing alcohol or vodka, hmmmm which one would "taste" better! LOL.... I'll tell you how I like it afterwards. "Scenty" post- I can smell it through the screen.

  3. I like light floral scents, especially lilac.

  4. As soon as I read "wet grass" I had an idea of what you were going to say. Boo to smells like that!

PS - enjoy the last Muny tomorrow, hopefully the weather is nice and cool(er)

  5. I love scent rollers!! I always seem to lose them though and I have no idea why. I'm sure someday I'll clean a closet out and find a huge cache of them!

  6. I love citrus no matter what, when, or where!

  7. I laughed about your lawn mower story. Sounds like something that would happen to us. And I just tried a face cream and HATED the smell of it. If it's that close to my nose, I need a good clean scent to it:)

  8. Oh yes! I am a HUGE scents person. The kids I nanny roll their eyes at me often because every scent reminds me of something. I just recently purchased a candle from Papyrus in the mall that's vanilla sugar and it smells amazing!

  9. I'm a scents person too. I love citrus for cleaning products, lavender for bed time (bath or linen spray), and peppermint/rosemary for shampoo (it's so invigorating).

Thanks for sharing and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop.

    Wishing you a lovely evening.
