Ireland - Day 5

Hey there!  Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday.  I'm continuing to recap our trip to Ireland and today I'm up to Day 5.  If you've missed the first few days, you can catch up by clicking below.

                                                  Day 1  &  2     |     Day 3     |     Day 4

Day 5 was definitely a fun-filled adventure.  We loaded the tour bus bright and early and headed across the country from Dublin to Galway.  Eric and I were lucky enough to snag the front row seats on the bus, which made the road trip quite exciting.

Our first stop of the day was the city of Galway, which sits right on Galway Bay.  The architecture once again was a favorite of ours.

From there we drove the very narrow, curvy path to the Cliffs of Moher.  Good thing I took my Bonine to curb my motion sickness because these roads were unbelievable.  No way could I drive a bus on this tour!

We stopped on the way up the mountain at an overlook spot to take in the gorgeous views.  And to enjoy the music coming from two adorable musicians!

On we went to the Cliffs of Moher. This area is absolutely breathtaking.  We just sat for a while and took it all in.  The day we were there it was a bit on the chilly side and very windy.  That didn't stop us from hiking around and seeing the cliffs from a couple different vantage spots.

On our way back to Dublin, the bus passed so many interesting sites.  I grabbed a few pictures out the bus window.

One very cute thing we spotted was this sign in the back window of a car.  In Ireland, they drive on the opposite side of the road and this driver wanted to warn people that it was their first experience at doing that!

We traveled through the beautiful fishing village of Kinvara and saw the building with the largest thatched roof in Ireland.  If we ever go back and spend a few days in this region, I would love to stay here.

We stopped at McGanns Pub for dinner.  I don't know if we were just famished from all the hiking or if the food was just that good, but it was one of the best meals we had on the entire trip.  Traditional Irish stew at its' best!

The coastline views on this tour were so unbelievable.  Our tour guide pulled over and let us explore for a bit before the drive back to Dublin.

Eric and I separately always make a list of five things we want to make sure to do on vacation.  Cliffs of Moher was on both our lists and it did not disappoint.  My next update will cover another item on my list - high tea at the Westbury!  Pop back in to read all about that adventure!

  1. Those roads remind me of some that we've been seeing this week; filled with switchbacks & turns! What beautiful views.

  4. Oh, I LOVED Ireland! And these pictures bring it all back so vividly! The best meal I've ever eaten was in an Irish pub in the countryside!
