Penny's Passion: About Me

About Me

Hey there!
So glad you stopped by my little blog!  It's been so fun starting this adventure, and I'm learning new things all the time on how to make the blog a better place for interacting with others.  I had to pause for a month or so when I started writing the "About Me" page to truly reflect on who I am.

I'm entering a stage in life that isn't so clearly defined.  My son is grown and married, so I'm no longer a mother in the way I used to be.  Having recently turned 50, life's looking glass is a lot different than when I was in my 20s and 30s.  More of my life is behind me rather than in front and I want to make sure to live the rest of my time on earth to its fullest.  I guess you could say I want to be more intentional, more focused on not sweating the small stuff, and leaving a legacy of being a good person.  How do you do that?  That's what I'm exploring and if I find the answers I'll share them with you on this blog.

Here are the basics --
My wonderful husband, Eric.  We were married in 2001 when my son, Ian, was 10.  Eric stepped into our lives and had an active role in raising Ian.  One of the main reasons I fell in love with Eric was because he accepted Ian as his own and never looked back.  Eric is willing to do ANYTHING I ask of him -- and believe me, I push the limits at times on my requests.  Love you, Eric!

Ian is my only child and my pride and joy.  Even though he's in his 20s, I find it hard not to "mother" him.  I was a single mom from the time Ian was 2 until I married Eric when he was 10.  In high school and college Ian was a debater.  A real debater, like on a team -- not just a kid who liked to talk about stuff.  Growing up he was involved in every activity offered and loved to play sports.  He graduated from law school this year and just passed the bar.  He is married to the love of his life, Kayla.

Kayla is my long awaited daughter that I never had.  She's beautiful on the inside and out.  I could not be happier with Ian's selection for a wife and I thank God everyday she said yes to marrying him.  We have had many adventures, and I'm looking forward to many more in the future.

And then there's me.  I work full time in St. Louis as an administrative assistant and spend a little over an hour each day commuting to and from there.  At times I love my job and other times not so much.  I love almost anything that's an event -- concerts, plays, sporting events, festivals.  Hanging out with friends, trying new restaurants, cooking, crafting make me happy.

My many friends add so much spice to my life and I love them like family.  You'll be seeing many pictures and stories in the blog so check back frequently to see what we're up to.

  2. Hi Penny, I can relate to much you said. I'm almost 50 so I get all that....I have only one son but he's 10 so I'm still babying him as much as I can. He's the light of my life. I also met my hubby in 2001 and he has 2 grown children so now I am a grandmother! I too am exploring this blogging world and I love it. Take care. Denise
