Five on Friday - September 15, 2017

Happy Friday!  It's a big weekend around my house, so let me share my five before it officially begins ~

1.  Hearth & Hand with Magnolia
Just in case you haven't heard, JoAnna and Chip Gaines are bringing a line to Target!  OH.MY.GOSH I'm excited to hear this!  We might have to add a line in our budget for my purchases, but it's rumored that most items will be under $30.  It launches November 5th, so set your alarm to get up early.  I have a feeling these items are going to sell out fast.

Oreo, you're killing me and my diet!  I saw these at my grocery store last weekend and managed to pass them by.  Next time I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself from throwing some in my cart.  Just imagine - a graham cookie with an apple-flavored creme filling.  Everyone needs a little apple pie tasting treat in their Fall season.  Apparently they are only around for a limited time so we might want to scoop some up while there's still scooping to do.

3.  Devotion
Patti Smith released her newest book, Devotion, this past week and it's making quite the splash.  Here's the summary from Amazon, "A work of creative brilliance may seem like magic—its source a mystery, its impact unexpectedly stirring. How does an artist accomplish such an achievement, connecting deeply with an audience never met? In this groundbreaking book, one of our culture’s beloved artists offers a detailed account of her own creative process, inspirations, and unexpected connections.
Patti Smith first presents an original and beautifully crafted tale of obsession—a young skater who lives for her art, a possessive collector who ruthlessly seeks his prize, a relationship forged of need both craven and exalted. She then takes us on a second journey, exploring the sources of her story. We travel through the South of France to Camus’s house, and visit the garden of the great publisher Gallimard where the ghosts of Mishima, Nabokov, and Genet mingle. Smith tracks down Simone Weil’s grave in a lonely cemetery, hours from London, and winds through the nameless Paris streets of Patrick Modiano’s novels. Whether writing in a café or a train, Smith generously opens her notebooks and lets us glimpse the alchemy of her art and craft in this arresting and original book on writing.
The Why I Write series is based on the Windham-Campbell Lectures, delivered annually to commemorate the awarding of the Donald Windham-Sandy M. Campbell Literature Prizes at Yale University."

4.  Chambray Shirt Dress
We had a cold snap a few weeks ago and I couldn't resist buying a few dresses that would help me transition into Fall.  This is one of my favorites!  From Old Navy, this number will look adorable with my leopard print booties and some black tights.  If you're in the market for a versatile casual dress, you might want to check this one out by clicking HERE!

Hope you have a great weekend!  I'm waiting patiently for my friend Linda to arrive.  She's visiting so we can go to the U2 concert in St. Louis tomorrow night.  Woo Hoo!  Then on Sunday I'm going with my friend Debbie to see Ed Sheeran.  Does it get any better?!?  Needless to say, this weekend should be epic.  Pop in next week to hear all about it.

P.S.  If you're a Birchbox subscriber, don't forget to use the $5 reward you received yesterday for Customer Appreciation Day.  They expire at 3 pm Eastern time today.

  8. I am SO excited about the new Chip & Joanna collection at Target!! I'm not really sure how I feel about the apple pie oreos. I'm not the biggest apple pie fan, so maybe that's why! However...I heard a rumor there will be a cookie butter oreo coming out soon and i'm alllll over that!! =)

  10. The picture of the smiling pup is fantastic and made my day (surprise, surprise)!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Americans have the most selection of flavors of ALL the things and some of them frankly are just bizarre. The cookie flavors, the pumpkin spice everything and the chip aisles, I'm literally amazed there's so much to choose from, it's insane.

I hope your week is going well Penny! :)
