Five on Friday - February 9, 2018

Oh my goodness -- I can hardly believe it's Friday already!  This week has flown by in a complete blur.  I've got some great things for my five this week.  Let me share ~

1.  Winter Olympics
The Olympics are here, the Olympics are here!  Just in case you didn't hear, the Opening Ceremony for the Winter Olympics is tonight.  I hope my body is ready because for the next couple weeks I know I won't be getting much sleep.  Yes, I'm that crazy person that will be up until midnight watching some random sport that I only care about every four years.
U-S-A!!  U-S-A!!  U-S-A!!

2.  National Pizza Day
Wondering what you are going to have for dinner tonight?  Celebrate National Pizza Day and order a pie from your favorite pizza joint!  What kind of pizza is your favorite?  We are a little partial to the Chicago-style ourselves.  (Hope Eric is reading this and thinking that pizza sounds good for our dinner tonight.)

3.  Surprise Me
Are you a Sophie Kinsella fan?  Her new book is hitting the stands on Tuesday, February 13.  Here's what Amazon is saying about Surprise Me:  After ten years together, Sylvie and Dan have a comfortable home, fulfilling jobs, and beautiful twin girls, and they communicate so seamlessly they finish each other’s sentences. They have a happy marriage and believe they know everything there is to know about each other. Until it’s casually mentioned to them that they could be together for another sixty-eight years . . . and panic sets in.
They decide to bring surprises into their marriage to keep it fresh and fun. But in their pursuit of Project Surprise Me—from unexpected gifts to restaurant dates to sexy photo shoots—mishaps arise, with disastrous and comical results. Gradually, surprises turn to shocking truths. And when a scandal from the past is uncovered, they begin to wonder if they ever really knew each other at all.

With a colorful cast of eccentric characters, razor-sharp observations, and her signature wit and charm, Sophie Kinsella presents a humorous yet moving portrait of a marriage—its intricacies, comforts, and complications. Surprise Me reveals that hidden layers in a close relationship are often yet to be discovered.

Sounds like a pretty great read to me!  You can get your copy HERE.

4.  New Diet Coke Flavors
Have you seen the new Diet Coke flavors on grocery store shelves near you??  Thanks to my friend Jamie, I was able to try one last week at her Scandal party.  The one I tried (and quickly went to the store and purchased) was the Zesty Blood Orange flavor.  YUM!!  As soon as we polish off our 8-pack, I want to try the Ginger Lime next.  The redesign on the can is great too - tall and sleek.  Makes me feel pretty cool just holding one in my hand.  Have you tried any of the new flavors?  Which one is your favorite?

5.  In the spirit of the Olympics.....

And it'd actually give the people watching on tv a comparison to what is actually going on

Okay guys - have a great weekend!  I'm helping with a bridal shower tomorrow so I have LOTS of crafting to do tonight while I watch the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics.  Saturday night we will be dancing the night away at the 2nd Annual Sweetheart Soiree at the Heart of St. Charles Ballroom.  This wonderful event is to benefit We Love St. Charles.   If you would like to donate or browse the exciting items in their Silent Auction, click HERE.  Then on Sunday we are planning to head to my home town to celebrate my niece and great-nephew's second birthday.  There's a bit of snow in the forecast, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn't wreck our plans.  See you back here next week!

  1. What a great way to end the week with a Five on Friday post. I do look forward to watching the Olympics, have a bit of card crafting on my agenda today and will be putting that new book on my to read list! Thanks for the fun read!

  2. You always have the funniest memes Penny! I would like to try some of the sports. That would be a riot! I tired the ginger lime and the twisted mango diet cokes. Both were good but the mango flavor was stronger. Have a great weekend!!
P.S. How did I not know there was a Pizza Day. I need to get it together! LOL

  3. I saw the new Diet Cokes in a small grocery store near our house but wasn't quite sure what it was all about. I'll have to try them!

  4. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I can't wait to see "Curling after Dark."

  5. I just tried the Blood Orange Diet Coke last night and it wasn't too bad! And I need to celebrate pizza day! I'm excited for the Olympics too!

  6. Your memes are always the best :)

I can’t wait for the Olympics!! Figure skating is always my favorite!

Also I love that author and will have to add to my goodreads list :) have a great weekend!!

  7. Looks like you have some great plans this weekend! That's awesome. I'm excited mostly for the figure skating, but I'm sure I'll be randomly watching other sports too.

  8. Have you ever visited the olympic training center in Colorado springs? You'd love it, you get to try stuff there. I've been many times.

I have that book on request already from the library. Can't wait!

  9. I'm so excited for the Olympics. I'll be planted in front of theTV for sure.

  10. I've heard nothing but good things about Surprise Me from folks who got review copies. I can't wait for it to come out so that I can read it. Love Sophie Kinsella.

  11. I am stoked about the Olympics! I still can't believe Pizza Day slipped by me without my knowing about it. That is one holiday I can get behind! Hope you are enjoying your weekend, Penny. :)

  12. OMG I’m watching a TON of the Olympics too! Much more so than I did with Sochi. Oddly, after years of watching curling, I’d love to try it someday, if for nothing else but to yell “HURRY HARD!!!!” Lolol.

Man I’ve said it more than once - what’s up with the myriad of different flavor EVERYTHING you Americans have?! I seriously cannot get over flavors of junk food, like chips, pop and even pop tarts. It’s insane. It’s acrually really eye opening just how much tighter our regulations are compared to yours. Having said that, I’m not jealous of missing out on strange flavors. I’m just good over here thanks. ;)

Ohh! I must get back into Sophie Kinsella, they’re such easy reads and so funny, too.

Have a great day Penny. xo
