Five on Friday - June 22, 2018

Hello friends!  Did you enjoy the summer solstice yesterday?  One of my favorite things about summer is the long days with plenty of sun.  Here's a few of my other favorite things this week ~

1.  American Flag Bunting
Last year I bought a couple of these American Flag Buntings and they look fabulous on my front porch!  So festive and fun for the July Fourth holiday.  Do you need some for your house?  Click HERE to check them out.

2.  Jurassic World:  Fallen Kingdom
The dinosaurs are back and we are excited to see this flick that opens today!  Here's what Rotten Tomato has to say:  It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

3.  National Onion Rings Day
Guess what today is - National Onion Rings Day!!  Now this is a holiday I can get on board with - bring on those deep fried rings of deliciousness.  We just might be having an order for dinner tonight.

4.  The Perfect Couple
Elin Hilderbrand's new novel hit the stands this week and it's definitely on my read list.  She has an amazing talent to put out the best summer reads.  Here's Amazon's summary of this one ~
It's Nantucket wedding season, also known as summer-the sight of a bride racing down Main Street is as common as the sun setting at Madaket Beach. The Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom's wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate.
But it's going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before the ceremony-and everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect. As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash interviews the bride, the groom, the groom's famous mystery-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he discovers that every wedding is a minefield-and no couple is perfect. Featuring beloved characters from The Castaways, Beautiful Day, and A Summer Affair, The Perfect Couple proves once again that Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer beach read.

5.  Summer dreaming....

No automatic alt text available.

Have a great weekend!  We'll be seeing The Wiz tonight at the Muny.  Keep your fingers crossed that we don't get rained on!  Tomorrow Eric is off so we get to spend the day together.  We're still kicking around what our plans are so check back next week to see what we decided to do!

  1. For my son's 16th birthday, we took him to a great restaurant (new to us) where he could get some ribs and wings. They had the MOST AMAZING onion rings I have ever had, and they had soaked the very thinly sliced onions in pickle juice before battering and frying. Unbelievable!

  5. Our summer solstice started off nice and hot. Then the rain and thunder rolled in. I'm not complaining though. It made for the perfect reading weather and a chance to catch up on some Netflix family shows with the kids.
