Welcome to Monday friends! It always surprises me how fast the weekend goes by and how quickly we are starting a new week. The good news for me is after several hectic weeks and things on my to do list, this is the first week in a while that looks pretty calm.
So the highlight of the weekend was celebrating my dad's 80th birthday! It was great having family together and enjoy the beautiful day.
Birthday's just aren't complete without cake -- and the cake we had both looked adorable and tasted fabulous!
Sunday morning we decided to catch a movie. We are still hanging on to our Movie Pass membership and we haven't used it much lately. Frankly, they have been changing their policies on a daily basis and I'm not even sure what the rules are anymore. One of the selections available to see on Sunday was Crazy Rich Asians and it had been on our list for weeks. We both thought it was cute. Not great, but good. The story was pretty predictable. Have you seen it? What did you think?
Sunday afternoon we spent some time cleaning up all the wedding stuff we had piled in our dining room. The wedding I helped with last weekend (how could it be a week already?!?) was on Sunday and when we rolled in at midnight we literally unloaded the cars and put everything in the dining room. I was out of town on business most of the week, and while I was gone the wedding stuff didn't put itself away. Thank goodness we don't have a dinner party planned in our near future, because wedding stuff if still all over the table!
After a while, I took some time relaxing and finishing a book I had been reading -- The Woman in the Window. What a book! It was the pick of my visual book club and I'm not sure it's a book I would have chosen on my own. My typical go to read is not a suspense thriller. This one was very enjoyable and once I got started, I had a hard time putting it down. Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.Sound like a book you'd like to read? Click HERE to get your copy.
We ended the day by going to our favorite ice cream shop, Dairy Haven, for a sweet treat. They close in the winter so we know our trips there are limited for the season.
Hope you logged a fun weekend and are starting the week on a good note. Pop in later this week and see what's happening on the blog!
