Five on Friday - January 12, 2018

Happy Friday!  Glad you stopped by to see my five for this week.  So with no further ado, here you go ~

1.  Daily Wisdom for Women - 2018 Devotional Collection
I love starting my day by reading a devotional before my feet even hit the floor.  For the last several years, my go-to has been the Daily Wisdom for Women collection.  Each day features a powerful devotional reading and a prayer.  They are short, quick reads that leaves a message that will resonate with you throughout the day.  Such great food for the soul!!  It's on sale right now at Amazon for only $9.99 for the Kindle version or $10.83 for an imitation leather one.  Trust me - it will be the best $10 you spend all year!  Click HERE to check it out.
2.  The Commuter
I'm such a sucker for Liam Neeson movies.  He has a new one releasing today - The Commuter.  It looks very suspenseful!!  Here's the recap from Movie Insider, "In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes, for himself and his fellow passengers."

3.  National Kiss a Ginger Day
If there's a red head in your life, today's the day to smack a big kiss on them because it's Kiss a Ginger Day.  If you could pick any red head to kiss, who would you pick?  Mine would definitely be Ed Sheeran.  Yes -- definitely Ed.

4.  Arla Cream Cheese Spread
Last week at the grocery store I grabbed a tub of this Arla Herbs & Spices Cream Cheese Spread and took it to work to have on my morning bagel.  OMG -- it's fabulous.  They describe it as, "Herbs & Spices Cream Cheese brings a tasty burst of flavor to the classic cream cheese experience. The natural blend of onions, paprika, dill and garlic are the perfect complement to a whole-wheat bagel or crackers for a savory breakfast, wholesome snack or naturally delicious lunch."  I describe it as YUM!

Five on Friday - November 3, 2017

Happy Friday!  Eric and I are on a little getaway to celebrate his big birthday.  I'm coming to you from Louisville today and we are finding all kinds of fun things to do here.  Can't wait to share it with you.  But in the meantime, here's my five for this week ~

1.  Daylight Savings Time
Guess what -- we get an extra hour this weekend!  Woo Hoo!!  Who can't use an extra sixty minutes in their lives.  So don't forget to set your clocks back on Sunday at 2:00 am (or Saturday night before you go to bed) and enjoy a full free hour when you wake up on Sunday morning.

2.  My Audio Pet Bluetooth Speaker
Oprah's Favorite Things list is out and these adorable little Bluetooth speakers are on it! With the easy wireless Bluetooth connection to your smartphone, tablet, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices, you are going to want more than one of these babies! The battery is rechargeable and you can take the music with you anywhere you go. Which one is your favorite?  I think I'm leaning towards the owl.  Click HERE to check them out.

Are you an Oreo lover?  Well, this hot cocoa is for you!  You can now quench that cookie crave in a drink.  I'm excited to drop a box of this drink in my grocery cart on my next trip to the store.  It just sounds so YUMMY!
Ashley over at Happy.Pretty.Sweet mentioned this book a bit ago and it's been on my mind ever since.  I'm adding this book to my wish list.  With the holiday season quickly approaching, I thought you might want to add it to your wish list too.  You don't want to have that fork in the wrong place when your in-laws stop by for Thanksgiving dinner!  Click HERE to grab one for yourself and you can entertain with ease knowing your table is perfect.

5.  Just doing what the doctor said to do.....

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  We are driving down near Lexington today to visit a horse farm and stopping for a bourbon tour on the way back to Louisville.  I'll fill you in on all of our adventures next week.

Five on Friday - September 15, 2017

Happy Friday!  It's a big weekend around my house, so let me share my five before it officially begins ~

1.  Hearth & Hand with Magnolia
Just in case you haven't heard, JoAnna and Chip Gaines are bringing a line to Target!  OH.MY.GOSH I'm excited to hear this!  We might have to add a line in our budget for my purchases, but it's rumored that most items will be under $30.  It launches November 5th, so set your alarm to get up early.  I have a feeling these items are going to sell out fast.

Oreo, you're killing me and my diet!  I saw these at my grocery store last weekend and managed to pass them by.  Next time I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself from throwing some in my cart.  Just imagine - a graham cookie with an apple-flavored creme filling.  Everyone needs a little apple pie tasting treat in their Fall season.  Apparently they are only around for a limited time so we might want to scoop some up while there's still scooping to do.

3.  Devotion
Patti Smith released her newest book, Devotion, this past week and it's making quite the splash.  Here's the summary from Amazon, "A work of creative brilliance may seem like magic—its source a mystery, its impact unexpectedly stirring. How does an artist accomplish such an achievement, connecting deeply with an audience never met? In this groundbreaking book, one of our culture’s beloved artists offers a detailed account of her own creative process, inspirations, and unexpected connections.
Patti Smith first presents an original and beautifully crafted tale of obsession—a young skater who lives for her art, a possessive collector who ruthlessly seeks his prize, a relationship forged of need both craven and exalted. She then takes us on a second journey, exploring the sources of her story. We travel through the South of France to Camus’s house, and visit the garden of the great publisher Gallimard where the ghosts of Mishima, Nabokov, and Genet mingle. Smith tracks down Simone Weil’s grave in a lonely cemetery, hours from London, and winds through the nameless Paris streets of Patrick Modiano’s novels. Whether writing in a cafĂ© or a train, Smith generously opens her notebooks and lets us glimpse the alchemy of her art and craft in this arresting and original book on writing.
The Why I Write series is based on the Windham-Campbell Lectures, delivered annually to commemorate the awarding of the Donald Windham-Sandy M. Campbell Literature Prizes at Yale University."

4.  Chambray Shirt Dress
We had a cold snap a few weeks ago and I couldn't resist buying a few dresses that would help me transition into Fall.  This is one of my favorites!  From Old Navy, this number will look adorable with my leopard print booties and some black tights.  If you're in the market for a versatile casual dress, you might want to check this one out by clicking HERE!

5.  Pets are so funny....

Image may contain: dog

Hope you have a great weekend!  I'm waiting patiently for my friend Linda to arrive.  She's visiting so we can go to the U2 concert in St. Louis tomorrow night.  Woo Hoo!  Then on Sunday I'm going with my friend Debbie to see Ed Sheeran.  Does it get any better?!?  Needless to say, this weekend should be epic.  Pop in next week to hear all about it.

P.S.  If you're a Birchbox subscriber, don't forget to use the $5 reward you received yesterday for Customer Appreciation Day.  They expire at 3 pm Eastern time today.

Five on Friday - November 18, 2016

Let's hear a big shout for Friday!!  I have friends coming to visit from out of town so to say I'm a bit excited for the weekend is an understatement!  So with no further ado ~ here's my five for this week.

1.  Loving
I happen to see a trailer of this movie and it's moved to the top of my "want to see" list.  It's not out in wide release yet, but there's a theater near us that's doing an advance screening on Tuesday.  I'm hoping my bottom will be in a seat!  Here's what Rotten Tomatoes is saying about it, "From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, Loving celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (portrayed by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry - and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since."

Megyn Kelly's new book, Settle for More, hit the stands this week and I'm dying to get my hands on it!  I'm thinking this will be a good book to read over the holidays.  Amazon is saying this, "In Settle for More, the anchor of The Kelly File reflects on the enduring values and experiences that have shaped her—from growing up in a family that rejected the "trophies for everyone" mentality, to her father’s sudden, tragic death while she was in high school. She goes behind-the-scenes of her career, sharing the stories and struggles that landed her in the anchor chair of cable’s #1 news show. Speaking candidly about her decision to "settle for more"—a motto she credits as having dramatically transformed her life at home and at work—Megyn discusses how she abandoned a thriving legal career to follow her journalism dreams."  Want a copy?  Click HERE to purchase.

Oh ~ how I wish I would have had one of these when Ian was little.  The number of times he dropped something while I was driving and then I would try to reach back, feeling around on the floor for the dropped item is countless!  This handy tray area would be fantastic.  The description says you can use it in a car, train, plane or bus.  If you're travelling with little ones this holiday season, you might want to pick one of these up.  If you order from Amazon Prime, there's still time to have it in your possession before Thanksgiving!  Click HERE to check it out.

4.  24K Magic
Bruno Mars releases his 24K Magic album today after making us wait four years.  The tracklist isn't long, but it's good!  Here's the nine songs you'll get:

"24K Magic"
"Chunky"
"Perm"
"That's What I Like"
"Versace on the Floor"
"Straight Up & Down"
"Calling All My Lovelies"
"Finesse"
"Too Good to Say Goodbye"

This could make a VERY good Christmas present (hint, hint)!  Click HERE to purchase.

5.  Did you see the Super Moon this week?

Have a wonderful weekend!  I'm hoping to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping with my friends who are visiting.  We are going to shop until we drop (or need to stop and get a drink)!  Hope to see you back next week.

Five on Friday - November 4, 2016

Happy Friday guys!  Today is a very special day around our house ~ it's Eric's birthday!  Happy birthday to my dear, sweet husband!  We have a fun few days planned to celebrate, but more on that in another post.  For now, let's take a look at my five for today.

1.  Ash Wood Cheese Serving Set
Pampered Chef recently came out with their winter items and the ash wood cheese serving set is one of my favorite new items.  This would make an excellent board to have cheese (and other appetizers) on at our Thanksgiving day feast.  I'm also thinking it could make an excellent Christmas present for that hostess-with-the-mostest on your list.  Visit my Pampered Chef website to order.  I would truly appreciate your business!

2.  The Crown on Netflix
The day has finally arrived -- The Crown is available on Netflix!!  "This drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century".  Rumor has it we get a view of Queen Elizabeth's lavish wedding just 12 minutes into the opening episode.  Be still my heart!!  Sounds like a show I'll love and I can't wait to start watching.  Could be my next binge watch.  Is it on your watch list?

3.  Bialetti 7265 Trends Collection 5 Quart Pasta Pot
Oprah's favorites things Christmas list is out and this snazzy pot made the list.  Check it out -- it has an oval shape so your noodles will fit in the pot without breakage.  The lid twists and locks in place for easy straining.  The handles don't heat up so it's easy to lift.  What more could you want in a pasta pot?!?  And the price is only $29.99!  Holy cow ~ this thing is amazing!  Want one?  Click HERE to check it out.  Act fast because I doubt these babies are going to last long.

4.  Change Your Clocks
So it's that time of year when we fall back.  November 5th is the day to wind back the hands on our clocks.  Ready for an extra hour this weekend?  What are you going to do with your extra hour?

5.  Ever have one of these....

Have a fabulous weekend!  I'm taking off next week and Eric and I are going on a little road trip.  Should be a fun few days and hopefully the fall foliage will still be beautiful.  I'll be back on Monday with all the weekend happenings!

Five on Friday - October 28, 2016

It's the weekend!!  Oh my goodness -- I'm so excited for the end-of-day bell to ring today and it officially be the weekend!  I'm actually going to sleep tomorrow until my eyes open on their own.  No alarm clocks.  No jumping in the shower immediate after waking up.  No looking at the clock every five minutes to make sure I'm not running late.  It's going to be glorious!!  But before any of that, I want to share my five for today with you ~

1.  SipCaddy
Are you a person that loves a long, leisurely bath?  This accessory might be just what you need to make that bath even better!  The SipCaddy suction-cups to your wall and will hold a glass, bottle or can.  How cool is that?!?  I'm thinking of several people who might love a SipCaddy for a birthday or Christmas gift.  Got any of those on your list?  They are available to purchase HERE.

Image result for sipCaddy

2.  Lady Liberty
One hundred and thirty years ago today the Statue of Liberty was dedicated.   President Grover Cleveland presided over the event, which was really cool considering he was the former New York governor.  I remember the first time I saw her, standing so proud on an island across the way.  It literally brought tears to my eyes.  I can't even imagine how the countless number of people felt that saw her from the other side as they were coming to the United States with so much enthusiasm and promise in their hearts to be on our soil.  Our country is something many Americans take for granted ~ and sometimes I think I do too.  On this day, let's all stop and be thankful for what we have here.  It may not be perfect, but it's pretty darn close!

3.  Inferno
Tom Hanks is back in Inferno!  It seems like forever ago since I read the book, so I'm sure I won't remember most of the story.  Ha!  But I am looking forward to this movie.  Tom Hanks plays Robert Langdon who wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia.  He then teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican.  Even if the movie is bad, I'm looking forward to seeing the scenery.

I have a thing for cookbooks -- I love them ALL!!  The new Barefoot Contessa cookbook hit the stands this week and it's going on my Christmas list.  Good 'ole Ina loves to cook for her Jeffrey so I'm sure the concoctions in this book are to die for.  Want one?  You can purchase your very own copy HERE.

5.  Some days....

Funny Pictures Of The Day – 42 Pics:

Enjoy the weekend!  We are having dinner with Kayla and Ian on Saturday.  Then on Sunday we're going to see Bret Michaels!!  I love him and can't wait to sign loud and off key at the concert.  What's on your agenda?  Hope it's amazing whatever it is!

Five on Friday - October 14, 2016

Woo Hoo -- it's the weekend my friends!!  It's hard for me to hide my excitement.  It's been a lllloooonnnngggg week and I am longing for a little bit of a break.

Want to see my five for today?  Well, here they are~

1.  Bangle from Frou Frou & Frill
Last Saturday morning I had the luxury of laying in bed for a while and reading some blogs.  I ran across a blog that mentioned these bangles from Frou Frou and Frill.  It was love at first site.  Just look how adorable they are!  They have a tons of cool things, including more bracelets ~ but they also have a whole line of game day bangles.  How fun would it be to give a friend a bangle in the colors of her favorite team!?!  I personally am not necessarily a Texas A&M fan, but I do love, love, love this bracelet.

2. Chipotle Deal
Okay ~ I'm not usually one to share deals with you, but this one just touched my heart (well, my stomach really).  Chipotle is in the midst of this super cool deal.  Pop over HERE, play a little game and then Chipotle will text you a buy one, get one free entree item message.  You don't even have to win the game -- just play!  Limit one offer per person and per mobile number while supplies last.  Gotta love free Chipotle!  Grab all the cell phones in your house, play and win.

3.  This Is Us
I'm so excited about this new show - This Is Us.  We hopped by bandwagon of This Is Us show lovers and haven't looked back.  Seriously, you really need to give this show a try if you haven't.  This Is Us airs on NBC Tuesdays at 9/8 central.  The season is three shows in and with each episode there are twists and turns that just keep you hooked.  This dramedy stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown.  Are you watching?  What do you think of it?

4.  National Dessert Day
Guess what today is!?!  It's National Dessert Day!  Time to celebrate!  What's your favorite dessert?  I honestly don't know what my favorite is.  Check out my "Recipes" tab at the top of this page for some of the desserts I've made and shared with you.  Guess I need to try more to be able to pick one.

5.  Notice to my friends...

If you can't handle me at my worst:

Enjoy the weekend!  I'm helping with a wedding next weekend so this weekend is packed with all kinds of crafting.  I also have some decorations to make for a baby shower that's happening next Friday.  So many fun things to do!  Hope your weekend is full of things that are fun for you.

Five on Friday - August 5, 2016

Hello Friday!!  I'm so excited we made it to the weekend.  Eric and I have some fun stuff planned for the next couple of days.  I'm also excited to share my five for this Friday, so let's go!

1.  Olympic Games!
Raise your hand if you are pumped about the Summer Olympic Games (both my hands are in the air)!  I don't know what it is about the Olympics, but you'll find me glued to the television at 2:00 am watching a sport I don't even understand.  Our DVR is about to explode because I want to tape EVERYTHING.  Here's something you might not know about me.  I secretly dream of being a synchronized swimmer.  Crazy since I'm somewhat afraid of water and don't really know how to swim.   I digress.  Here's a schedule so you won't miss your favorite events ~

Olympic Summer 2016 Games Schedule. The Rio 2016 Summer Olympics schedule includes the dates for all the Olympic events. Printable version click here - http://printableteamschedules.com/olympics.php

2.  Now That's What I Call Music, Vol. 59
I love the Now cds and volume 59 is being released TODAY!  Where else can you get 16 major current hits from the hottest artists on one cd?!?  Some of the artists on this volume are Justin Timberlake, Sia, Meghan Trainor, Nick Jonas, P!nk - and the list goes on.  Great mix of music.  Want it?  Click HERE to purchase yours.

4.  National Underwear Day
Since today is National Underwear Day (hope you're wearing some), I thought I'd share Eric's new favorite kind.  Eric and I tape Ellen everyday and watch it together in the evening.  All the cool guy guests she has on the show is always bragging about their Ellen underwear, so for Christmas last year I gifted him a pair.  He loves them!  Loves them so much that he got more for Father's Day.  If you're looking for some nice underwear for your guy, you might want to give them a try.   (I'm hoping that Ellen somehow sees this blog and is so thrilled that I'm blogging about her underwear that she flies me and Eric out to see one of her shows.  Any show -- it doesn't even have to be a 12 Days of Christmas show.  Just sayin'.)

5.  Food for Thought...

Now let's get this weekend started!  Eric and I are going to the Muny tonight to see Fiddler on the Roof and then tomorrow we are headed to my hometown for the New Florence Old Settler's Picnic.  I'm excited about seeing some of my friends I grew up with and helping my dad in the fish stand.  If you want one of the best fish sandwiches you'll ever taste, stop by!

Five on Friday - April 29, 2016

How can it be Friday already?!?  Holy, moly this week has flown by!  I can't believe it's already been a week since I was getting ready for my friends to visit.  Still thinking about how much fun last weekend was.

Before I start the fun for this weekend, let me share with you my five for this week.

1.  Hello, My Name is Doris
Eric and I had a date night mid-week and saw Hello, My Name is Doris.  Loved it!  We hadn't really heard a lot about this flick, but the show time was in the time range we were looking for, so that's how it got picked.  Sally Field is the leading lady and she had one heck of a performance.  She plays Doris who is a quirky women who finds her life unsettled after the death of her mother.  If you haven't seen it, you should add it to your list.

2.  Mother's Day
Speaking of movies going on the watch list, I'm adding Mother's Day to mine.  This movie opens today and has a multitude of famous actors.  Rotten Tomatoes describes it like this, "Mother's Day is the latest star studded ensemble comedy from director Garry Marshall ("Pretty Woman," "Valentine's Day"). Bringing together Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Julia Roberts along with Jason Sudeikis, it's a celebration of mothers everywhere. This big-hearted comedy invites us all to enjoy the laughter, tears and love as three generations come together in the week leading up to Mother's Day."

3.  SlowMelt Popsicles
If you have little ones (or just like to eat your popsicles slowly), you are going to want to hear about these babies!  Popsicles that melt slow.  I remember the days when the warm summer sun melted the popsicle in my little guys hands much faster than he could eat it.  These slow melt pops give kiddos a chance to get more in their mouths than drips on the ground (or carpet, or couch, you get the picture).  Stock up now before the warm weather is here to stay.

If you saw my post from yesterday, you got a peek at these shoes.  I love them so much I wanted to make them one of my five for this week.  They are available in many collegiate and MLB patterns.  My favorite is the St. Louis Cardinal ones and I've added them to my shoe collection.  Love them!  Is your favorite team available?  You know you need a pair! Click HERE to check them out!
5.  Just a thought....

Now let's get this weekend started!  Have a fabulous Friday.  Got plans for the weekend?  I'm going to the St. Louis Vintage Fair then on to a bachelorette party on Saturday.  On Sunday I'm getting ready for a little gender reveal party I'm having at my house on Monday night.  Fun times ahead!  See you back here on Monday for the recap.
