Five on Friday - May 30, 2025

Happy Friday! We’re in full wedding mode this week, getting ready for our biggest celebration yet this Saturday. I can’t wait to share some special moments from the big day with you! But first, let’s jump into this week’s Five on Friday ~

Look at what came out this week - The Martha's Vineyard Beach and Book Club book by Martha Hall Kelly!  I can't wait to add it to my summer reading list.  This author wrote another book I loved, titled The Lilac Girls, so I'm excited to read this one.  Here's the summary ~
2016: Thirty-four-year-old Mari Starwood is still grieving after her mother’s death as she travels to the storied island of Martha’s Vineyard, off the coast of Massachusetts. She’s come all the way from California with nothing but a name on a piece of paper: Elizabeth Devereaux, the famous but reclusive Vineyard painter. When Mari makes it to Mrs. Devereaux’s stunning waterfront farm under the guise of taking a painting class with her, Mrs. Devereaux begins to tell her the story of the Smith sisters, who once lived there. As the tale unfolds, Mari is shocked to learn that her relationship to this island runs deeper than she ever thought possible.
1942: The Smith girls—nineteen-year-old aspiring writer Cadence and sixteen-year-old war-obsessed Briar—are faced with the impossible task of holding their failing family farm together during World War II as the U.S. Army arrives on Martha’s Vineyard. When Briar spots German U-boats lurking off the island’s shores, and Cadence falls into an unlikely romance with a sworn enemy, their quiet lives are officially upended. In an attempt at normalcy, Cadence and her best friend, Bess, start a book club, which grows both in members and influence as they connect with a fabulous New York publisher who could make all of Cadence’s dreams come true. But all that is put at risk by a mysterious man who washes ashore—and whispers of a spy in their midst. Who in their tight-knit island community can they trust? Could this little book club change the course of the war . . . before it’s too late?
2.  And Just Like That - Season 3
The first episode of Season 3 of And Just Like That... dropped yesterday on Max, and I couldn’t wait to dive back into the world of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and all the new faces we've come to know. That said, I have to admit I was a little disappointed that the full season wasn’t released all at once. I was hoping for a good binge session, but instead, we’ll be getting one new episode every Thursday. The 12-episode season will unfold week by week, leading up to the finale on August 14. So, if you're watching along, get ready to pace yourself—plenty of drama, fashion, and surprises still to come!

I’m heading out on vacation Sunday morning, and with how packed this week has been, I decided to make things easy and grab a couple of new tops to toss in my suitcase. I was honestly surprised by how much I ended up loving them! The fit is just right, the fabric is lightweight, and it's incredibly soft. We’ll be spending a couple of days at Dollywood, and this top is perfect—it's made with UPF 50+ fabric to help protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays.  I'm so happy with this Amazon purchase!

I had to restock my whitening strips this week, so I figured it was the perfect time to share just how much I love the Lumineux ones. I’ve tried several different brands over the years, and most of them left my teeth and gums feeling super sensitive—sometimes even after just one use. But these are completely different. They’re gentle, yet still really effective, and I’ve had zero issues with sensitivity. I love that they use a more natural approach to whitening without compromising on results. If you’ve struggled with sensitivity like I have, these might be a total game-changer for you too!

5.  I can relate...

Okay guys, I'm back to working on wedding stuff.  My friend TW is here helping and I honestly don't know what I'd do without him!  See you next week.

Let's Make Sunset Sangria

Hello and welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday.  I'm going to share something on my mind and invite you to link up and do the same.  Today I'm thinking about the wonderful sangria my daughter-in-law, Kayla, makes!

Kayla knows just how much I adore her sangria recipe—it’s one of my absolute favorites. While we were visiting for Mother’s Day, she kindly whipped up a fresh batch, and of course, it didn’t disappoint. As she was putting it all together, I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos of the process. I wanted to make sure I could replicate it perfectly back at home, step by step. The recipe itself is wonderfully simple—no fuss at all—but the flavor is out of this world. It’s refreshing, perfectly balanced, and always a crowd-pleaser. I can’t wait to make it myself and relive a bit of that special day with every sip.

Here's What You Need
1 750 ml bottle Moscato D'Asti
1/2 cup Malibu Rum
3 cups Simply Lemonade with Raspberry
Desired amount of Triple Berry Blend Fruit

Here's What You Do
Measure and pour your liquids into a pitcher.

Give it a stir.

Add your fruit.

Enjoy!

Now it's your turn - what are you thinking about today?  Link up and share!

Five on Friday - May 23, 2025

Happy holiday weekend!  When five o'clock rolls around, the three-day weekend officially begins!  I'm so excited to have an extra day off this week.  We have a to-do list a mile long with some fun thrown in.  Let's kick things off with me sharing my five for this week ~

1.  Memorial Day - 2025
This Monday is Memorial Day.  Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, is a time for Americans to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it began after the Civil War as a way to commemorate fallen soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers and flags. Today, Memorial Day stands as a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom. While many mark the occasion with family gatherings, barbecues, and the unofficial start of summer, it’s also a day for reflection—visiting cemeteries, attending memorial services, and observing a moment of silence at 3:00 PM local time to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

2.  Mission Impossible - Final Reckoning
Like I bet many of you, seeing the new Mission Impossible movie is high on my list this weekend!  There's a fair amount of rain forecasted for the weekend, so seeing a movie might be the perfect way to spend some time.  We've really liked the previous Mission Impossible movies and are looking forward to seeing this one.  Here's the summary ~

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) follows Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team as they face a new global threat: a powerful AI known as "The Entity" that has gone rogue. The AI can infiltrate any digital system, making it nearly unstoppable. Ethan must track down two halves of a key that can supposedly control or destroy it, all while being pursued by deadly enemies—including Gabriel, a ghost from his past.

The film ends on a cliffhanger, with Ethan securing one half of the key and uncovering part of the AI's secrets, setting up the story for the next installment, Dead Reckoning Part Two.

With school out and summer vacation in full swing, it’s the perfect time to hit the road, pack a picnic, or head out on an adventure. Make sure to toss these pre-moistened dish wipes into your car, suitcase, or picnic basket—they’re a game-changer when there’s no sink or dish soap in sight. Designed with a convenient rinse-free formula, they make cleaning water jugs and dishes quick and easy, and they’re safe to use on all your cookware.

Is your basement or garage in need of a little organizing?  Start with this tote rack!  We've all seen the cool tote systems people are making on Instagram, but frankly, we just don't have the time or talent to pull that off.  What we can do, though, is put this baby in our Amazon cart and have it magically appear at our doorstep in a few days.  The totes aren't included, so you'll need to purchase those separately.

5.  HaHa...

Wishing you a fantastic weekend! We’ve got plans with friends and are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates. See you next week!

Field Trip to Long Row Lavender

Hey there—welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  It’s that time of the week when I spill a few thoughts rolling around in my head and invite you to do the same. Today’s musings? A fun little field trip my friend and I went on last weekend—think adventure, laughter, and a great lunch!

For my friend Jill’s birthday last fall, I gave her a “field trip experience” to Long Row Lavender. I had visited years ago and was excited to see how much it had blossomed since then—pun totally intended! Nestled just outside of St. Louis in Wright City, Missouri, Long Row Lavender is a charming spot that’s absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

It was a little early in the season for the lavender to be in full bloom, but the peonies totally stole the show! Rows of gorgeous pink and white blooms were ripe for the picking—and at just $2 per stem, we had plenty of beautiful options to choose from.

Long Row Lavender has the cutest little café—it’s impossible to resist! We happened to be there around lunchtime and couldn’t pass up the chance to try it out. We each ordered a lavender lemonade topped with strawberry cold brew, and let me tell you… it was absolutely delicious!

Our sandwiches and pie were just as amazing! We both went for the adult grilled cheese, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. Think crispy rosemary bread hugging melty cheese, bacon, and juicy tomato—pure comfort food magic. And if you’re in the mood for something extra special, their menu even offers a “picnic for two” you can take down by the lake. How charming is that?

All in all, it was one of those days that just fills your cup—a beautiful outing shared with an even more beautiful friend. The weather was perfect, the setting was peaceful, and the company couldn’t have been better. It was everything a Saturday should be: relaxed, refreshing, and full of joy.

Have you taken a little adventure lately that sparked joy or inspiration? I'd love to hear about it—link up below and share what you've been thinking about this week!

Five on Friday - May 16, 2025

Happy Friday!  Thanks for popping in to see my Five on Friday post!  Let's jump right in ~

Just in time for Father's Day, James Patterson's new book hits the shelves!  This book sounds like the perfect gift for all fathers, and honestly, I'm looking forward to reading it too.  Here's the summary ~
I did the homework, so you don’t have to do as much. I talked to lots of experts, and lots of dads, and lots of experts who are also dads. I read everything I could. Then I wrote and rewrote this book, filled with steps you can take to become a better dad…

Start with a hug.
Talk to them before they can speak.
Then talk about everything.
Read to your kids. Then flip things around. Let them read to you.
Tell your kids your story.
Help them discover who they are. Deep down inside.
Have your kids’ backs. One day, they’ll have yours.
Every day, just show up.

2.  Pop-Tarts Ice Cream and Ice Cream Sandwiches
Okay, Pop-Tart lovers - you are going to be so excited for this one!  Pop-Tarts is now making ice cream and ice cream sandwiches.  The sandwiches are available now and come in three popular flavors (Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, and Frosted Chocolate Fudge).  They are ice cream sandwiched on each side by Pop-Tarts.  Ingenious!  The ice cream will be coming in June.  Three flavors there too (Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, and Frosted S'mores).  Summer just got a little more fun!

3.  Tucci in Italy
This Sunday, you’ll find Eric and me parked in front of the TV, tuning in to Stanley Tucci's new series, Tucci in Italy. Airing on the National Geographic Channel, this American travel and food show follows actor Stanley Tucci as he journeys through Italy, delving into the unique culture, cuisine, and history of each region.  I can't wait to see this one!

4.  National Mimosa Day
Pop the bubbly—it's National Mimosa Day! There’s no better way to celebrate than by setting up your very own DIY mimosa bar. It’s easy, festive, and always a hit at brunch!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Chilled champagne or sparkling wine

  • Orange juice (of course!), plus fun twists like mango, pineapple, or cranberry

  • Fresh fruit for garnish—think strawberries, raspberries, orange slices, or mint

Let guests mix their own perfect pour and get creative with combos. Bonus points for cute signage and champagne flutes!

Whether you're hosting a full-on brunch or just treating yourself, today’s the perfect excuse to sip something sparkly.

5.  Here we are...

In case you missed it earlier this week, I shared our new tiered tray design.  You can catch it HERE.  This weekend holds tons of fun - Eric is playing in a golf tournament, and a friend and I are visiting a lavender farm.  Stop by next week for the details!

Nestled in Love Tiered-Tray

Thanks for dropping by Thinking Out Loud Thursday - a space where I share what’s on my mind and invite you to do the same by linking up. Today, I’m thinking about spring and sharing a peek at our newly styled tiered tray.

With spring in full bloom, we gave our tiered tray a fresh seasonal makeover!  I plucked out the bunnies from Easter and substituted in spring touches I found at Hobby Lobby, Homegoods and Kirklands.

There's something soothing to me with each layer.  It all just feels peaceful.

Each side of the tiered tray adds its own charm, and together they form a harmonious display that feels light and airy.

This setup will be staying in place until it's time to bring out the red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July!

Now it's your turn - what are you thinking out loud about today?  Link up and share!
