Bringing the Luck of the Irish to Our Mantel

Hello and welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  This is a time when I share something I'm thinking about and invite you to link up and do the same.  Today I'm sharing our St. Patrick's Day-themed mantel.

As soon as Valentine's was over, I was ready to pack away the winter look and bring in a little fresh green. Decorating the mantel for St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun and easy way to do just that. It doesn’t take much to instantly brighten the whole room. The mantel is one of the first things you notice when you walk in, so adding a touch of festive charm there feels like a simple way to celebrate the season and bring a little extra luck (and joy!) into our home.

I had so much fun adding little leprechauns all across the mantel, tucking them in between the other décor so you spot them one by one. They’re peeking out from behind greenery, and adding just the right touch of whimsy to the display.

To soften everything and bring in a fresh pop of color, I also added a few silk flower arrangements. The blooms add texture and fullness, and their cheerful green and white tones help brighten up the whole space. Together, the playful leprechauns and the florals make the mantel feel festive, layered, and perfectly ready for St. Patrick’s Day.

We’ve had a couple of St. Patrick’s Day-themed prints in our décor stash for years now, and somehow they still feel just as charming as the first time we used them up. Even though they make an appearance every March, they never feel tired or overused. Instead, they instantly bring that familiar pop of green and a festive spirit to the mantel. There’s something comforting about pulling them out year after year — it’s like welcoming back an old friend who knows exactly how to set the tone for the season.

Decorating the mantel for St. Patrick’s Day may be a small change, but it makes such a big impact in our home. A few pops of green, some playful leprechauns, and those familiar prints instantly shift the space from winter to festive and fresh. I love how something so simple can bring a little extra cheer to our everyday routine. Now we’re all set to celebrate the season — and maybe enjoy a bit of luck along the way.

Three Tiers of Irish Cheer

Hello and welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday.  This is a time when I share something I'm thinking about the invite to you link up and do the same.  Today I'm thinking all about our St. Patrick's Day themed tiered tray!

The minute Valentine’s Day was behind us, we pulled out all the green and started decorating for St. Patrick’s Day! Our tiered tray, which sits in the kitchen window, is now overflowing with shamrocks and a little bit of shenanigans. It was definitely time to swap out the wintery evergreen for something lighter and more spring-inspired.

All three tiers are filled to the brim with shamrocks and cheerful little leprechauns! From top to bottom, each layer has its own festive touch — pops of bright green, playful Irish accents, and just enough whimsy to make it feel extra fun. Every tier adds a little more luck and charm, creating a sweet St. Patrick’s Day display that makes our kitchen feel ready for all the shamrocks and shenanigans March can bring.

The teapot that graced the window during our Valentine’s display decided to stick around for St. Patrick’s Day, too. Instead of packing it away, I loved the idea of letting it transition right into the next holiday. With a few shamrocks and touches of green added around it, the teapot feels perfectly at home in its new festive setting. Sometimes it’s the simplest pieces that can carry over from season to season with just a little styling tweak — and this one was too sweet to put away just yet.

With just a few extra touches here and there, the window came together perfectly! A couple of small accents were all it needed to feel complete — festive, cheerful, and ready for St. Patrick’s Day.

Now that the kitchen window is finished, I'm moving on to the mantle.  You'll be seeing that on the blog soon!

2025 St. Patrick's Day Decorations

Hello and welcome! Thanks for dropping by Thinking Out Loud Thursday, where I share what’s on my mind and invite you to join in and do the same. Today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the St. Patrick’s Day decorations we’ve put up around our home this year!

Keeping with tradition, our kitchen window proudly displays our three-tier tray, serving as the centerpiece of our festive decor. The entire window is adorned with cheerful leprechauns and vibrant shamrocks, bringing a touch of St. Patrick’s Day magic to our home!

Every year I add a few more little leprechauns from Hobby Lobby.  They are so darn cute!

A few years ago, I found a couple of vintage St. Patrick's Day signs at Hobby Lobby, and they've been a charming addition to our holiday décor ever since!

In our guest bathroom, there’s a frame on the sink where I swap out the picture for each holiday. It’s a simple yet fun way to reflect the season and keep our décor festive!

This year, I made sure to give our mantel a festive St. Patrick’s Day makeover. The fabric garland, which I crafted years ago, remains a favorite—it still looks just as vibrant and charming as it did the first year we hung it!

The coffee table even has a little token of St. Patrick's Day decoration!

To wrap up, displaying St. Patrick's Day decorations is a fun and festive way to celebrate Irish culture and bring a touch of luck and cheer to any space. Whether you go all out with shamrocks and leprechauns or keep it simple with green accents, your decorations are sure to spread the spirit of the holiday. So embrace the magic of the season, enjoy the festivities, and may the luck of the Irish be with you!

St. Patrick's Day Tiered Tray

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday! This is a time for me to share what’s on my mind and invite you to join in and do the same. Today, I’m taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting our St. Patrick’s Day Tiered Tray from the archives!

I’m really loving how the holidays are spaced out this year! Sometimes, there’s such a quick turnaround between St. Patrick’s Day and Easter that I don’t always decorate for both. But with Easter not until April 20 this year, there’s plenty of time to celebrate each one! I came across some photos of a past St. Patrick’s Day tiered tray, and I’m excited to share them with you today ~

Our window is fully decked out in all things green, adorned with plenty of shamrocks for a little extra luck! 🍀✨

Many of the pieces decorating each layer of our tiered tray came from one of my favorite spots—Hobby Lobby! Every year, I love adding a few more leprechauns to our collection. 🍀✨

The welcome sign warmly greets our guests, letting them know how happy we are to have them!

This St. Patrick’s Day tiered tray brings a festive touch to our home, filled with cheerful greens, lucky shamrocks, and a few playful leprechauns. I love how it adds a bit of holiday magic to our space, making it feel extra special. Whether you go all out with decorations or keep it simple, celebrating the season in little ways always brings joy! 🍀✨

2023 St. Patrick's Day Tiered Tray

Last week our Valentine's tiered tray got swapped out for the St. Patrick's Day decorations.  As sad as I was to put away all the hearts, I wasn't so sad after I got the green in its place!

If you saw the Valentine's Tiered Tray post (HERE), you'll recognize the teapot taking center stage.  I left it right where it was and worked around it.

The tiered tray itself got a new topper this year.  The hat came from Hobby Lobby and "caps" off the tray.  😀

Little leprechauns, also from Hobby Lobby, are scattered all over the place!

One of my favorite pieces is the vintage-looking sign wishing St. Patrick's Day greetings.

This corner of green screams St. Patrick's and I'm here for it!  I'm sure when the time comes to take it down I'll be a little sad.  Easter is next and I love all the bunnies and eggs.  But for now, I'm soaking up the shamrocks!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

2023 St. Patrick's Day Mantel

Hi friends!  Thanks for stopping by Thinking Out Loud Thursday.  Today I'm sharing our newly put-up St. Patrick's Day Mantel decorations.

I had fallen in love with our Valentine's Mantel, so disassembling it and replacing the decorations with our St. Patrick's Day things wasn't high on my list of things to do.  But I'm hosting a girls' weekend at our house this weekend and wanted the decorations to be holiday appropriate.  This week down came the pink and red and up went the green, orange, and white!

The decorations were all things that we had already.  There hasn't been much extra time to shop for anything new, but I managed to fill it all in with items from our current stash.  One of the things I've been using for years now is the garland I made.  We have definitely got our use out of it!

Hobby Lobby has been carrying little leprechauns figurines for years and I've managed to collect quite a few.  They are so darn cute!

A few years ago, I picked up a couple signs from Hobby Lobby too.  I didn't know when I bought them if they would work anywhere.  I think they work great on the mantel!

My friend, Carol, showed me how to roll up a felt placement and put it in the apothecary jar for a pop of color.  Genius!

Now that the mantel is done, it's on to the tiered tray!  I'll be posting it soon.
