Thinking Out Loud Thursday - March 7, 2019

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  This has been a short week for me because I was off work on Monday.  Speaking of being off work, that's what I'm thinking out loud about today ~

Last weekend Eric and I had a little mini vacation.  We flew out Friday morning with a couple of our friends to Florida.  Being the baseball fans that we are, catching a few Spring Training games is something we always enjoy and were excited to be heading south this year to cheer on our St. Louis Cardinals.  We managed to get to four games in four days.  Lots of baseball fun!

What I love about going to Spring Training equally as much as the games is the fact that we stay right on the ocean.   There is something about hearing the waves crash into the shore that is like music to my ears.  A feeling of peace and serenity washes over me.  I often wonder if I lived near the ocean if I would start taking it's calming effects for granted.  I'll tell you one thing, last week I didn't take a single minute of my time on the beach for granted and loved every second of it!  While we were soaking up the sun in 80 degree weather, our friends back home were waiting out a snow storm in single digit temperature.

Friday night we followed the Cardinals to the Houston Astros ball field in West Palm.  It was a stadium we hadn't been to before, so we took a stroll around.

When we stopped at the foul pole, a couple of the Cardinal players happen to be headed to the locker room.  They stopped to sign a few autographs and we were able to snap a few pictures.

As an added bonus, Friday night happens to be when they have a fireworks show after the game.  Win for us!

After a great night's sleep and a wonderful morning walk on the beach, Jupiter was our destination for Saturday.  The Cardinals were playing in their home stadium and it felt good to be back on familiar turf.

After the game, we ventured to The Square Grouper Tiki Bar.  What a fun place to hang out after a game!  They have live music and a fabulous view of a waterway complete with a lighthouse!

Sunday it was back to Jupiter to take in our third game.  I have to admit, our stadium has some really good food!  The street tacos and bar-b-que nachos were pretty tasty.

Even though the food at the stadium was fab, we decided to enjoy dinner out Sunday night.  The Magic Oyster was located across the street from our hotel so we dined on seafood.  We definitely didn't go hungry over the weekend!

Eric, being the best husband that he is, got up with me at the crack of dawn Monday morning.  Seriously, we got up to watch the sunrise on our last morning.  Some things are just too beautiful to let them pass by you without taking it all in.

Monday we followed our beloved Cardinals half way across the state to Lakeland to see them take on the Detroit Tigers.

We sat in our seats and soaked up the last bit of sun before heading back to our frozen tundra.  What a fabulous way to spend a few days!  The trip may be over, but the memories we made will last the rest of our lives.  Can't wait until next time!

Five on Friday - May 6, 2016

What a fun week this has been!  Monday night I hosted a gender reveal party ~ if you missed the recap, check it out HERE.  The rest of the week was full of sports.  The Blues hockey team played on Tuesday and Thursday and I went to the Cardinals baseball game on Wednesday.  Fun week!  What fun things did you do this week?  Ready for the weekend?!?

Before we head into this Mother's Day weekend, here's my five for this week ~

1.  Font Candy App
My niece has been using the most adorable app for my great-nephew's monthly photos.  It's called Font Candy.  It has a ton of editing options like the font, font color, size, placement.  You can just tweak away until it's just right.  For all you moms out there, this is a fantastic way to capture what's happening in the life of your child pretty easily.  Here's a couple examples of some pics she created.  And this is a great opportunity for me to show off my very adorable great-nephew, Hunter!  He just makes me swoon!

2.  Kidzikoo Coozie
Thinking of my little niece and nephews, have you guys seen these super cute little insulators that works on bottles, sippy cups and water bottles?  Oh my goodness ~ I can think of SOOOOO many reasons to have these around if you have kiddos.  They stretch to fit most 8-12 ounce baby bottles and sippy cups.  They also fits 12 ounce Klean Kanteens, 12 ounce soda/juice cans and water bottles up to 16.9 ounces.  Wouldn't it be nice to quickly be able to identify your kids drink cup when they are on a playdate?  Or have something on those sippy cups to absorb the condensation and eliminate the water rings left on your furniture?!?  They come in several adorable patterns.  Get yours before the hot weather is here!  Click HERE to purchase.  Look around after you get to Amazon to see all the patterns.

3.  My Man Yadi
It's no secret that I L-O-V-E the St. Louis Cardinals.  Our catcher, Yadi Molina, did the coolest thing this week.  A pitch was thrown inside and as Yadi jumped back ~ well, see for yourself....

Is he not just the coolest catcher EVER!?!  Love him!

4.  Wine Chiller Stick
Still looking for something to give your mom for Mother's Day?  Check out this baby!  It's less than $10 at Amazon and ships for free if you have Prime.  This would make a great item to pair with a bottle for wine for a wedding present or as a hostess gift.  The 3-in-1 chiller stick serves as a chiller, pourer and aerator.  What more could you ask for?!?  You just have to place the chiller rod in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours and you are ready to go.  How cool is that! (Pun intended.)  Click HERE to purchase or see more about it.

5.  So true....

Now let's get ready for the weekend!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.  Eric and I are headed to our nephew's kindergartner graduation tomorrow.  Big day for him and I'm so grateful we get to be there to experience it.  See you later!

Thinking Out Loud Thursday - Opening Day Edition

Monday was a very special day in St. Louis -- it was the Cardinal's home opener!  The city goes crazy for the home opener and you can feel the energy and excitement in the air.  Fountains are dyed red, roads are closed for vendors and the city is a buzz.  Cardinal Nation is alive and ready to cheer on their favorite baseball team.

Opening day was a little rough for me this year.  Under the excitement, I was deeply missing my friend Jane.  Jane, who died of cancer in January, LOVED opening day.  As a matter of fact, Jane had been going to opening day for as long as I could remember.  We had so many pictures of us outside the stadium with the look of hope in our eyes for another year of the Cardinals going to the World Series.  We would banter back and forth throughout the game via text and most of time have lengthy conversations after the game about the highlights.  By highlights I mean we would talk about who was sitting where and who was going to be our favorite players that year.

Even though Jane wasn't at the game physically on Monday, she showed up in spirit right before the game began.  You see, St. Louis woke up Monday morning to heavy rain and cloud cover.  The rain was persistent through the morning and the 3:15 start time looked like it could be in jeopardy.  But just after noon, the clouds cleared and the sun made it's appearance.  Thanks, Jane, for sending us sunshine.  And a huge win over the Milwaukee Brewers!  Jane I know you were up in heaven, wearing your Cardinals jersey, looking down on us and enjoying the game.  Thanks for the help on Monday.

It was a blessing that Ian got to join me this year.  He totally understood how I was feeling and helped me through the moments when I just couldn't hold back my tears.  Plus it was such a wonderful mom/son day!  I've found that getting the opportunity to spend the day with your adult child is even more special than when they were little.  Maybe it's just the fact that it doesn't happen as often.  Or maybe it's because now that I'm older I appreciate things more.  Whatever it is, the day will go down as one of my favorites with him and I am so grateful his scheduled allowed him to go.

If you've never been to an opening day in St. Louis, you don't know what you're missing.  It's a standing tradition for the Anheuser Busch Clydesdales to make an appearance.  They parade around the outfield and the crowd goes wild.  Every year I take 19894838 lots of pictures of them.  My grandchildren someday will probably wonder why their crazy grandma felt the need to take so many pictures of this team of horses.  Here are just a few of the ones I took this year ~

It's also a tradition to have all the Hall of Fame Cardinal players announced.  This year was so special because our beloved favorite Lou Brock had part of his leg amputated in October and was there to throw out the first pitch.

The current players parade in around the outfield in individual trucks and are announced at home plate.  We do love our players!

It's always a great day when you bring home a win - and that's what we did on opening day.  I'm excited that we have the season ahead of us and can't wait to enjoy this national pastime in the coming months.

So that's what I'm thinking out loud about today.  What's your favorite sports team?  Now it's your turn - join me and Vanessa at X-tremely V by linking up your favorite post(s) from the week.  We love hearing from you!

Weekending - First Games of the NLCS

This weekend was met with so much excitement -- we had not one, but TWO Cardinal games to go to!  Well, Saturday's game was a total bust.  I love almost all Cardinal fans, I really do.  But Saturday night I swear every cray cray Cardinal fan was sitting around me.  It probably didn't help that we were loosing and I wasn't in the most people tolerate mood.  Let me recap.  To my right was a guy that could majorly benefit from some anger management classes.  He actually had bought an extra seat so when things went poorly he could punch it and hit it with his hat.  Not joking.  Then we have the couple sitting directly in front of us.  He tried to explain to his date (for 3 whole innings) why he was bringing another girl with him to the game on Sunday night.  Dude, she's never going to be okay with you bringing another date to the game!!!  Stop trying to justify it!!  And chick, by saying "Are you kidding me right now?" over and over is probably not going to convince him to ditch his Sunday night date and take you instead.  Then we have the lady behind me that constantly was tapping the back of my seat with her foot and throwing peanut shells on my back.  Pair all that with the way the Cardinals were playing and you can understand why I made Eric take me for ice cream after the game.  Still love the Cardinals by the way.

Sunday I woke up ready and excited for Game 2.  Come on Birds, make this one count!    I prepared myself by staying calm all day reading the Nicholas Sparks book The Best of Me.  I read the whole book this weekend.  Time well spent.  It was a typical Nicholas Sparks book, but I still loved it and it made me cry and gasp a few times.  The movie is coming out October 17.  Movie anyone?
Sunday night was game time.  It was a home run derby for the Cardinals.  Final score - 5-4.  Walk off home run by Kolton Wong.  Home runs also by Matt Carpenter, Matt Adams and Oscar Taveras.  Way to go Cardinals!!!  Oh, and by the way, our tickets were in another section so I didn't get to see date #2 of the dude sitting in front of us on Saturday night.

Good news from the other side of the state -- the Royals are up 2 game to none against the Orioles.  I-70 Series maybe?!?!

So basically, Cardinals baseball was my weekend.  I did no cooking, no errands, nada.  Monday night is Rams football.  Rams players -- please show up and give us a good game.

See you guys later this week.  Have a good one.

Five on Friday - October 10, 2014

This has been a super busy, crazy, fun week for me.  Monday and Tuesday nights we had tickets to the Cardinals games, Wednesday (after getting up early to see the eclipse) I went to So You Think You Can Dance Tour show, Thursday we were at the Blues Hockey opening night.  I am ready for the weekend (which will consists of two more baseball games).  I love weeks like this -- SO MUCH FUN!!

Here's five things I've been thinking about this week.

1.  St. Louis Cardinals
It is so incredibly fun to be a Cardinals fan!  Playoff baseball is the absolute BEST.  We were fortunate to be able to go to the games in St. Louis on Monday and Tuesday.  St. Louis is such a baseball city.  October is like a huge holiday and most everyone is eating, breathing and living baseball.  GO CARDS!!

2.  SYTYCD Tour
Wednesday night I joined Debbie, Rachel and Lauren for dinner and So You Think You Can Dance Tour.  Holy moly -- those guys are soooo talented!!  Their dancing was AMAZING!  It was great fun.  The winner of the season, Ricky -- some of the moves he does makes me wonder if his legs are even attached to his body.  The tour is hitting 70 cities so they are probably coming to a city near you.

3.  Doughnut Pan
Now, I have been known to think I have to have a kitchen gadget only to let it set in my pantry for years some time.  But this doughnut pan -- no way is it sitting idle!  I saw Christina's recipe for Apple Cider Donuts and proceeded immediately to Bed, Bath and Beyond to purchase the pan.  I'm hoping to whip up a batch of them this weekend.  Doughnuts anyone?

4. 2015 Planner
Usually I have a very generic At-A-Glance calendar from Mead, but this year I'm thinking I want to mix it up a bit and use this one from Katie Daisy.  Look how cute it is!  It's going on my birthday wish list (um, Eric -- it's on my wishlist).  I have a slight concern because it's smaller than a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 paper and I do a lot of putting pieces of paper in my planner.  Do any of you have a favorite planner you would recommend?

5.  Quote
I think I might try this.

Enjoy your weekend!  I'll be back on Monday to recap my weekend and hopefully report on the Cardinal wins.
