Five on Friday - October 15, 2021

It's Friday!  I was lucky enough to be on vacation Monday through Wednesday this week.  Eric picked me up from the airport late on Wednesday and we made it home around 1:00 am,  I am so looking forward to having a few days off to catch up on sleep and get all my travel gear put away!  Let's kick the weekend off with my five for today ~

1.  Hocus Pocus Baking Kits
Head to Walmart this weekend to pick up one of the cute Hocus Pocus baking kits.  The limited-edition kits come in five different forms: an Amuck Amuck Cupcake Kit, Binx Cookie Kit, Spell Book Brownie Kit, Potion Bottle Cookie Kit, and Hot Cocoa Bomb Kit, and are available for just $5 each.  This is the perfect Halloween activity for the kiddos!  You might want to pick up more than one!  If you don't want to pop in the store, they are available online also.

It's almost here!  Ree Drummond's next cookbook will be hitting the stands on Tuesday and I'm so darn excited to get my hands on a copy.  In the star's new book, she will be sharing 120 shortcut recipes for dinners, desserts, and more in The Pioneer Woman Cooks - Super Easy!

Have you been spending time sitting on the bleachers watching someone play a sport or instrument?  Does your back ache just think about it?  Buy yourself these stadium seat cushions!  You'll look forward to sitting on those bleachers when you have one of these to use.

4.  You - Season 3
Are you a You fan?  If so, today is your lucky day!  Season 3 is appearing on Netflix starting today.  I'll be honest, I watched the first season and loved it.  Never went back for Season 2.  We might have to rewind back to the second season to catch up and see if we still like this American psychological thriller.

5.  Thought of the day...

Okay, friends - let's get this weekend started!  We are joining our son and daughter-in-law for dinner tonight and have no plans for the rest of the weekend.  I'm sure we will come up with something fun to do!  Pop in next week to see what we were up to.

Five on Friday - November 27, 2020

Happy Friday!  Are you still in a turkey coma from yesterday?  I'm so glad we have a couple days to recover before going back to work!

Today is a special day - it's my mom's birthday!  Happy birthday, Mom!  In a normal year, we would be out shopping together today.  We'll just have to make up for it once covid is behind us.

Now let's get to my five for today ~

1.  Funfetti Baking Kits
Ready to do some holiday baking with the kiddos?  Pillsbury has you covered!  They have two adorable kits available for your baking pleasure.  Each kit comes complete with the cookie mix, three cookie cutters, frosting, sprinkles, a pastry bag, and a recipe book.  Best of all, each kit also comes with two Pillsbury Doughboy hats to wear while you're whipping up your creation!  Sounds like a great holiday activity!

2.  Season Two of Virgin River
I'm so excited to have Season Two of Virgin River to watch this weekend!  Netflix is releasing the 10 episode season today.  If you have seen Season One, it's worth a watch.  Here's the synopsis ~
Virgin River follows Melinda "Mel" Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind.

3.  Frontier Follies
Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, has a new book out and it sounds delightful! Here's the summary from Amazon ~

A down-to-earth, hilarious collection of stories and musings on marriage, motherhood, and country life from the #1 New York Times bestselling author and star of the Food Network show The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond.

In this relatable, charming book, Ree unveils real goings-on in the Drummond house and around the ranch. In stories brimming with the lively wit and humor found in her cookbooks and her bestselling love story, The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, Ree pulls back the curtain and shares her experiences with childbirth, wildlife, isolation, teenagers, in-laws, and a twenty-five-year marriage to a cowboy/rancher.

A celebration of family life, love, and (mostly) laughter, Frontier Follies is a keepsake to curl up with, have a good laugh, and remember all that’s wonderful (and funny) about family.

4.  Dab-N-Seal Envelope Moistener
Are you planning on sending out holiday cards this year?  The part I despise most about the entire job is sealing the envelopes.  No way do I want to lick them!  Each bottle is good for approximately 1,500 envelopes.  These are great for any occasion where envelopes are involved - think weddings, showers, thank you notes.  At $5.50 for a 4-pack, it's a great investment!

5.  How true is this...

Enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend!  We really don't have anything much going on.  There's one deal on a treadmill I'm hoping to catch.  I do plan on spending some time organizing my thoughts and figuring out what gifts still need to be purchased for Christmas.  Be sure to visit my Instagram page on Monday because I'm participating in a HUGE giveaway!  See you soon!

Five on Friday - October 25, 2019

Thank goodness it's Friday!  It's been a long week over here and I'm ready for a couple days to regroup.  To get the weekend started, let's look at my five for this week~

1.  Halloween Cupcake Toppers
Are you still wondering what kind of Halloween snack you're going to make?  Order some cupcakes, get these adorable cupcake toppers and call it a day!  They are available through Amazon Prime, so if you order now they will be on your doorstep in plenty of time for Halloween.  They are so darn cute!  Click HERE to get yours.

2.  Hallmark Christmas Movies
Okay, I'm typically not one to rush the Christmas season.  But, Hallmark has 24 new movie premieres this year and it all starts this Saturday.  Hallmark Channel is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.  What did we watch at Christmastime 11 years ago?!?  I for one am pretty excited to cozy up on the couch and do some Christmas movie binge watching.  Who's with me?

3.  The Pioneer Woman Cooks - The New Frontier
Just in time for the holidays, Ree Drummond released her newest cookbook on Tuesday.  This new cookbook features 112 brand new step-by-step recipes.  I just love her books because the pictures are true pieces of art.  Her recipes are also ones I can honestly see myself making.  The New Frontier is definitely going on my wishlist!  It's available HERE.

4.  Turkey Cranberry Ravioli
Look what Aldi's is selling - Turkey Cranberry Ravioli.  Starting on November 6 (which will truly be here in just a few days), Aldi's is introducing their new Turkey Cranberry Ravioli.  The package is suggesting serving the ravioli with gravy.  I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around that!  Aldi's is also introducing a Bourbon Sweet Potato ravioli.  It's made up of a blend of sweet potatoes, bourbon and cheese.  Let me know if you guys try either of these.

5.  Sign of the times....

Have a great weekend!  I'm going to be dragging out my winter clothes because it's going to get down right cold here next week.  The weatherman actually used the word snow in the forecast!  I'm hoping to get out and see some of the fall foliage on Saturday, but they're calling for rain.  Let's hope they're wrong about that!  See you next week!

Five on Friday - September 19, 2014

Here we are -- another Friday is upon us.  Don't freak out, but we only have 13 more Fridays until Christmas!  But for now, let's enjoy Fall and this week's Five on Friday.

1.  Nestle Girl Scout Milk Flavors
Has anyone tried the Girl Scouts flavored Nestle milks?  Apparently they have been on the shelves since June and are expected to run through the end of September.  They are sold in single-serving bottles and can be found in the refrigerated beverage section at many convenience and grocery stores.
I heard a review from an eight-year-old on the caramel coconut flavor and he said the milk tastes like his shampoo smells.  Maybe I'll look for the thin mint one.

2.  Barbra Streisand Partners
Can not wait to get my hands on this baby!!  The new album (do we still call them that?!?) is out this week and definitely on my list of things to buy.  Barbra teams up with a huge cast of characters like Elvis Presley (maybe he is still alive), Michael Buble, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli and others.  Did you see her on Jimmy Fallon Monday night?  Quite the star.

                                             Partners

3.  My Prairie Cookbook
Speaking of stars - the star of Little House on the Prairie, Melissa Gilbert, released a cookbook this week.  She's 50 now and living in a 1890's restored historic home in Howell, Michigan.  Her new cookbook is called My Prairie Cookbook:  Memories and Frontier Food from My Little House to Yours. Who knew she could cook!

4.  TOMS at Target
Have you heard -- The Toms are coming!  The Toms are coming!  That's right, folks -- Toms will be available at Target starting November 16.  Just in time for Christmas shopping.  Joseph Altuzarra's line for Target will feature shoes, hats, gloves, hoodies, stationery, mugs, candles and jewelry for women, men and children.  Each item is retailing for less than $50.  Target will be staying with the One for One giving model by donating a blanket, meal or shoes to a North America-based charity such as American Red Cross Disaster Relief, Canadian Red Cross Disaster Relief, Feeding America and Food Banks Canada.  Target officials are projecting they could provide more than 11 million meals, blankets and shoes to those in need.

5.  Action Item for Today

Have a great weekend everyone!  I've got some things in the works for next week's blog that I'll be pulling together this weekend.  Stop back by and check them out.
