Five on Friday - September 10, 2021

Happy Friday!  You know what Friday means - it's time for Five on Friday!  Here we go ~

1.  National Day of Encouragement
Sunday is National Day of Encouragement.  Now, this is a day we should all lean into!  It's a day dedicated to uplifting people around us and making a positive impact.  The simple act of noticing a job well done can make someone's day.  And it's totally free!  So think about how you can offer a reassuring word to someone, praise a job well done, and recognizing others' talents.

2.  Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate Bombs
I'm not quite ready to release my hold on summer, but Target is helping ease me into fall.  Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate Bombs started showing up on their shelves and for $3 you can take one home.  I'm excited to get one and give it a try!  I'm also thinking this would make a perfect item to drop in those Boo Bags we will be putting together soon.
3.  Apples Never Fall
Liane Moriarty's newest book is being released on Tuesday, September 14.  Preorder now and it will be waiting for you to be the first to pop it open.  Apple Never Fall sounds like another bestseller to me!  Here's the summary from Amazon ~
The Delaney family love one another dearly—it’s just that sometimes they want to murder each other . . .

If your mother was missing, would you tell the police? Even if the most obvious suspect was your father?

This is the dilemma facing the four grown Delaney siblings.

The Delaneys are fixtures in their community. The parents, Stan and Joy, are the envy of all of their friends. They’re killers on the tennis court, and off it their chemistry is palpable. But after fifty years of marriage, they’ve finally sold their famed tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. So why are Stan and Joy so miserable?

The four Delaney children—Amy, Logan, Troy, and Brooke—were tennis stars in their own right, yet as their father will tell you, none of them had what it took to go all the way. But that’s okay, now that they’re all successful grown-ups and there is the wonderful possibility of grandchildren on the horizon.

One night a stranger named Savannah knocks on Stan and Joy’s door, bleeding after a fight with her boyfriend. The Delaneys are more than happy to give her the small kindness she sorely needs. If only that was all she wanted.

Later, when Joy goes missing, and Savannah is nowhere to be found, the police question the one person who remains: Stan. But for someone who claims to be innocent, he, like many spouses, seems to have a lot to hide. Two of the Delaney children think their father is innocent, two are not so sure—but as the two sides square off against each other in perhaps their biggest match ever, all of the Delaneys will start to reexamine their shared family history in a very new light.

4.  Queenpins
Oh, this movie looks so good!  It opens today and I'm hoping Eric and I can squeeze in a trip to the movie theater this weekend to see it.  Here's the summary ~
Inspired by a true story, Queenpins is an outrageous comedy about a bored and frustrated suburban homemaker, Connie (Kristen Bell) and her best pal JoJo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), a vlogger with dreams, who turn a hobby into a multi-million dollar counterfeit coupon caper. After firing off a letter to the conglomerate behind a box of cereal gone stale, and receiving an apology along with dozens of freebies, the duo hatch an illegal coupon club scheme that scams millions from mega-corporations and delivers deals to legions of fellow coupon clippers. On the trail to total coupon dominance, a hapless Loss Prevention Officer (Paul Walter Hauser) from the local supermarket chain joins forces with a determined U.S. Postal Inspector (Vince Vaughn) in hot pursuit of these newly-minted “Queenpins” of pink collar crime.

5.  How many...

Have a great weekend!  We are going to the Ascension Charity Classic PGA Tour Champions tomorrow.  Our son and daughter-in-law are coming with us.  I think I'm more excited to be spending the day with them than I am watching the pros play golf!  I also have a paper project I need to get wrapped up this weekend.  So much fun ahead!  See you back next week!
