Tour of Our Christmas Trees

Today I'd like to give you a little tour of our Christmas trees.  I love having several Christmas trees.  What I don't love is having to put them up.  In steps my friend Carol -- she makes her appearance every year to put up my trees.

Funny thing - back when Ian was a child and I was single, each year I would wrangle some bigger-than-we-needed fresh tree into my car and then into the house.  I would string popcorn, cranberries and Cheerios to hang from the treasured fir.  Ian would become disinterested in decorating practically before I had the lights untangled.  Our dog would eat the strung popcorn, cranberries and Cheerios each time I turned my back.  Literally, the entire month of December I would be stringing that garland every day trying to keep the tree looking decent.  Ian and Kayla are stringing their own garland this year.  The fact that Ian wanted to do it in his own house made it worth it to me for all the trouble I went to years ago.

Now things are a bit different.  We have five trees in total and Carol does an amazing job decorating them.  Eric and I get to sit back and enjoy their beauty without having to worry about anything getting eaten off the trees.  So here's a look into our trees this year.

Here's our family room tree.  I love the nature aspects and how the mantle ties into the theme.

The tree in the kitchen is probably my favorite.  It's full of wooden spoons, measuring cups and gingerbread men and women.  Guarding over the kitchen from the top of the tree is an adorable chef.

In the library is a slender tree that fits nicely in the small space we have available to put a tree.

Saturday morning reading in bed is a whole lot more festive during the holidays since I've added this tree to my bedroom.  There's just something special about having the lights of a Christmas tree twinkling in the corner.  Really helps me keep the Christmas spirit in my heart from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep.

Here's the tree in the dining room.

This nativity scene sits at the top of our stairs.  I managed to get this one year after Christmas and absolutely love it!

There you have it -- a little tour of our trees (and nativity) at Christmas.  It's not the decorations that makes my Christmas special -- it's the people that come to visit.  I can't wait to host Christmas and have our families here!  When the house is full of people and noise, then it will truly seem like Christmas.

What about you -- what makes your holiday special?

  6. I love all the different ribbons on the 'nature' tree! I have to ask if they're wired ribbon? I made a burlap bow for our tree this year and it isn't wire and I find myself compulsively 'tucking' the ribbon in just so...

  7. Wow! I cannot imagine putting up all of those trees and ornaments (and then packing them back), but they are GORGEOUS! My favorite is the kitchen one--I love how it's themed to the space. Believe it or not, I just put up my (one) tree this morning. We've been traveling so much that I haven't even thought about decorating! (Plus, my toddler is going to make things crazy this year!)

  8. These are beautiful Christmas trees. The time that people take in decorating makes me jealous, I wish I had the time or the money. I do love seeing how people decorate their tree and how each one is different and beautiful in their own right. Love Christmas!

  9. We only have one tree at home and we decorate it with different things every Christmas. Five trees are a lot. I'm sure you all have to heighten up your creativity to beautify those trees in the rooms of your home. The one in the kitchen is also my favorite.

  11. You have so many fun Christmas trees. I moved into a studio apartment this year so I only had room to put up two indoor trees this year and one small outdoor one. I wish I had found one like the one in your library because I could have added in another one, lol. My sister puts up anywhere from 8 to 12 every year and her house is amazing at Christmas. I love to decorate for Christmas and I love having Christmas music going at all times and homemade cocoa & hot apple cider ready for when company drops in.

  12. Wow your friend Carol really does do a great job at decorating your trees! I love how unique the tree in the kitchen is, measuring cups and wooden spoons are such cool decorations for a Christmas kitchen tree and all the festive baking and cooking going on there. My mother always puts up five trees too and decorates them herself. I used to love helping her, it was taking them down that I hated! :)

  13. Wow! I kinda envy you because we decided not to put up a tree since it takes so much time to put it away again. Hahaha! Lovely trees, though. I especially like the first one. The colors are very reminiscent of Christmas.

  14. OMG I love Christmas Trees so much, the smell alone from them are just amazing. But the best part is the hard work and dedication that goes into decorating them. I like the baking tree the most out of all these. But they are all amazing.

  15. I can't believe you have so many trees! More importantly, you have the space! In England we have room for one tree and one little one in the boys' room upstairs. I love your kitchen one the most, I would really like one like that in my house. The magic is what makes it special for me, the make believe!

  16. I love the idea of having different trees in and around your house. We currently have a small tree in our apartment, but when we buy a house, I'd like to start adding trees in the different rooms. It allows for some fun personalization and fun! Also, I love Christmas trees!! Thanks for the post!

  17. What a lovely assortment of Christmas trees! I love trees when they have the sparkly thick ribbon curled down the sides. I think my favorite is the one in the bedroom...because of the color scheme. My eye just gravitates to the combination of blue/silver/gold. I think the most we ever had was a big tree in the living room, and smaller one in the kitchen. I wonder what happened to my little tree...

  18. Your christmas trees are beautiful! To me, each one or each angle has its own specialties. There is something that makes each one different and unique. I personally love the ribbon coming down the sides, that is also how my christmas tree looks this year. I also really love your color choices, such pretty complimenting colors. Great job and I love your living room :) haha
