I literally walked in the door, put down my suitcase and Eric and I headed out the door to catch the matinee showing of American Sniper. Good movie. This movie had been on our list to see since we saw the previews before the movie was even released. The 132 minute movie flew by and did not disappoint. I'm anxious to see more of the Oscar best picture nominated movies to see how it compares.
After the movie, we did some shopping around town. I had a Barnes and Noble gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket. We also stopped by a new store in our area - Fresh Thyme Farmers Market.
I'm on a quest to find some black ankle boots so we stopped in DSW. I tried a pair on (beautiful black suede), but didn't pull the trigger on buying them. Suede frankly scares me. I'm not very gentle with my shoes and I could see myself ruining these pretty quick. The search continues.
Saturday night we rented a couple Red Box movies and watched This Is Where I Leave You. Wasn't a bad watch -- I'm glad we rented it instead of seeing it at the theater.
Sunday it looked like winter outside -- gray and rainy. I enjoyed hanging out inside and really doing a bunch of nothing. I watched Boyhood. It had some interesting moments that made me do some deep thinking about things. Interesting that they filmed this movie over 12 years. Have you seen it? What did you think?
I pulled out some apricot pork chops I had in the freezer for dinner Sunday night. I'll be sharing the recipe later on the blog. Just want to say -- they were really tasty!
Guess what Monday is -- Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. (Yes, there really is a day for everything!) Sealed Air Corporation conducted a survey and found that popping bubble wrap for one minute relieves as much stress as a 33-minute message. So pop some bubble wrap today and relax - literally.
Check out what others were up to this weekend.
American Sniper was great wasn't it!? Every year my goal is see all the Oscar films before the Oscars and this was my 7th year doing it! While American Sniper was AMAZING, Birdman, Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel are my top 3 <3
ReplyDeleteWeekends are NEVER long enough! Sounds like you had a fabulous short weekend though, that dinner looks delicious! I want to see American Snipper, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend for you! I also watched American Sniper last weekend and absolutely loved it- such a great movie. I especially enjoyed it because I am familiar with the book and backstory on Chris Kyle and his wife.
ReplyDeleteNow I have a great reason to continue my love of bubble popping. I haven't seen American Sniper yet but I am heading there this coming weekend. I was on twin duty all weekend since my daughter came down with the flu so this morning I am exhausted. Two babies and all night feedings so glad mom is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI do love weekends. We are blessed and my husband gets every other Friday off - so we get long weekends a lot as well. My daughters love the time together. I want to see American Sniper! We went to the movies this weekend and say Birdman. Very good flick!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend. What did you end up getting at B&N?
ReplyDeleteI love bubble wrap! I saw American Sniper as well this weekend! Apparently there's a Fresh Thyme opening in Minnesota this year. I'll have to check it out when I move back.
ReplyDeleteI looove weekends. They're the only thing that get me through long work weeks. But I love January best when work is light in my newsroom. :)
ReplyDeleteWeekends are a blessing! I am glad you were still able to do so much in a shorter amount of time.
ReplyDeleteI love that today is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day! How fun!
ReplyDeleteMy husband went to see American Sniper last week and he enjoyed it too! With a teenager and kindergartner I never know where my weekends went. It's like I wake up and it's Monday and we start the crazy school week all over again...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of apricot pork chops. Sounds very tasty though. We have been eating a lot of pork and chicken lately because beef has been so darn high! As far as the movies my husband and I haven't watched a movie together in I can't remember when. He's a musician and that's what he does. Practice... rehearsals. Rehearsals.... practice. That's it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking of watching American Sniper but couldn't tell at all how it was from the previews. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great weekend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on American Sniper, I haven't decided whether to watch it in the cinema or not.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I watched American Sniper and we liked the movie. I love buying groceries so I Know I would ove to go to Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend. I love markets that sell good organic fruits and vegetables. Fresh Thyme looks so healthy! We have a few like this here too :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh weekends always go by way too quick!!! Looks like you had a pretty fabulous one!!! I love farmers markets ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love weekend too! I always watch movies and visit local shops just like you!
ReplyDeleteI love these little glimpses into your day. I wish we had a Farmer's market like that here!! Sadly, in Ontario, we don't as of yet. I visit our tiny, little Farmer's Market locally each week instead.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Boyhood (or any of the movies mentioned) yet but that's one that's high up on our list. I think it's so cool the way it was done!
I really want to see American Sniper, it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteAmerican Sniper is definitely on my list of movies that I want to see soon. Also, not sure if you've heard of the movie Black or White but that one is definitely on my list as well.
ReplyDeleteI watched Boyhood a little over a week ago and I really loved it. It's one of those movies that you can just feel how raw the emotion is.
It seems like you had a wonderful weekend!! :)
