Five on Friday - May 5, 2023

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Just for the record, I never need an excuse to enjoy Mexican food or a margarita, but what better reason to indulge than an official holiday!  Before we bust out the chips and salsa, let me share my five for today ~

1.  Coronation of Prince Charles
Our DVR is already set to capture the historical event of the coronation of England's new King on Saturday.  I have a fascination with the whole Royal family and can't look away from events like this.  If you want to watch it live, you'll need to be up early!  The event begins at 11:00 am GMT in London.  Coverage in the US begins at 4:00 am Central (see why we will be taping it!).  Will you be watching?

2.  Love Again
As soon as we saw the trailer for Love Again, I knew I wanted to see it!  It opens this weekend and I hope we have a spare moment to get to the theaters.  Here's the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes ~
What if a random text message led to the love of your life? In this romantic comedy, dealing with the loss of her fiancé, Mira Ray sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number... not realizing the number was reassigned to Rob Burns' new work phone. A journalist, Rob is captivated by the honesty in the beautifully confessional texts. When he's assigned to write a profile of megastar Celine Dion (playing herself in her first film role), he enlists her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person... and win her heart.

3.  Toasteds Rosemary & Olive Oil Crackers
Have you tasted Toasteds Rosemary & Olive Oil crackers?  We have fallen in love with them!  They have the perfect amount of rosemary flavor.  They are great with cheese, but I've also been guilty of just opening a sleeve and eating them all by themselves.  So good!  Add them to your cart the next time you're grocery shopping.
Joanna Gaines is at it again - and just in time for Mother's Day!  Volume 3 of her recipe collection was released this week and I'm excited to see what she's cooking up in this one.  The name of this cookbook alone makes me want to have it on my shelf - Magnolia Table, Volume 3: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering.  Don't you just picture your family and friends all gathered around the table passing platters and plates full of delicious food!  Here's the summary from Amazon ~
Joanna Gaines—cofounder of Magnolia, cook and host of Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines, and New York Times bestselling author—brings us her third cookbook filled with timeless and nostalgic recipes—now reimagined—for today’s home cook.

Whether it’s in the making, the gathering, or the tasting of something truly delicious, this collection of recipes from Magnolia Table, Volume 3 is an invitation to savor every moment. In Joanna’s first cookbook, the #1 New York Times bestselling Magnolia Table, she introduced readers to her favorite passed-down family recipes. For her second cookbook, Magnolia Table, Volume 2, she pushed herself beyond her comfort zone to develop new recipes for her family. In this, her third cookbook, Joanna shares the recipes—old and new—that she’s enjoyed the most over the years. The result is a cookbook filled with recipes that are timeless, creative, and delicious! Just as in her past books, within each recipe Joanna speaks to the reader, explaining why she likes a recipe, what inspired her to create it in the first place, and how she prefers to serve it. The book is beautifully photographed and filled with dishes you will want to bring into your own home, including:
  • Honey Butter Layered Biscuit Bites
  • Bananas Foster Pancakes
  • Brussels Sprout Gruyére Gratin
  • White Chicken Alfredo Lasagna
  • Garlic Shrimp over Parmesan Risotto
  • Peanut Butter Pie
  • Brownie Cookies

5.  Definitely me!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  We're going to a wedding and you know how much I love weddings!  Then I'm packing for a trip I'm taking with my friend next week.  We're off to Savannah!  I'm getting in as much fun as possible before starting my new job.  Hope to see you back here next week!
