Five on Friday - May 15, 2015

Coming to you from Gulf Shores today.  Most of the time I'm so excited to see Friday arrive, but today is a little different.  Today is the last day of our vacation, so forgive me if I'm a little sad to see this Friday get here.  Tomorrow we'll be travelling back home.  Not a bad thing, but I don't know if I would ever get tired of sitting on the beach looking out at the water.

So before I start packing up, here's my five for this week.

1.  Artic Zone Thermal Tote
You might remember me talking about my friend Tracy's Christmas present.  She always gives us a bag full of her favorite things.  This year she chose an Artic Zone Thermal Tote as the bag to house all her other fabulous gifts.  I didn't fully appreciate the bag until this week.  It was the perfect tote to take our lunch and snacks to the beach.  We put an ice pack in it in the morning with our food and drinks.  It kept our goodies cool all day at the hot beach.  I'm looking forward to using it for tailgating and boating too.  If you don't have one around your pad, you might want to add it to your list of things to pick up.

2.  Cannonball Wine
I tried a new wine recently and fell in love with it!  Cannonball California Cabernet Sauvignon.  Here's what they say about it:  "Ample at its core with flavors of cherry flambé, Oaxacan chocolate and roasted hazelnut, all contributing to tremendous depth, leading to a long and unstinting finish."  Here's what I say:  "It was smooth and yummy!"  Anyone else tried it?

3.  Sabra Classic Hummus with Pretzels
We found these individual combinations of hummus and pretzels at Sam's.  They were perfect to haul to the beach for lunch.  I'm going to pick some up when we get home and pack them for my work lunches.  They are 250 calories each and will be great paired with a piece of fresh fruit.  I just love things I can grab and go for busy mornings when I'm trying to get out of the house and headed to work.

4.  National Chocolate Chip Day
Guess what day today is??  National Chocolate Chip Day!  That's right -- so grab a cookie (or a bag) and a big glass of milk for dipping and enjoy.  We can thank Ruth Graves Wakefield of the Toll House Inn for inventing these gems when she cut up chunks of a semi-sweet Nestle chocolate bar in 1937 and added it to a cookie recipe.  Way to go Ruth!!

5.  In honor of spending the week at the beach....

  2. I don't know if I could ever get tired of staring out at the ocean, either! I'm headed to the beach next weekend for Memorial Day and I can't wait. :) I love Ruth and her amazing chocolate ideas. Chocolate chip cookies are the best.
