Weekending - December 1, 2017

Well, I thought when I made my to-do list for the weekend I might be setting myself up for failure and I was right.  What I think I can get done and the time I actually have sometimes doesn't really match up.  But that's ok -- I can continue checking stuff off that list this week.  Let's focus on the things I did get done....

The first thing I did when I got home on Friday was to hang up the adorable ornament I got from my Secret Santa at work.  This is the second year I've been involved in the Secret Santa exchange and love it!  For first three Fridays in December, we leave a little something for our selected person.  Then we gather for a reveal lunch to find out who our Secret Santa has been.  So much fun!

My big project on Saturday was to get ready for our department holiday party on Sunday.  We needed a welcome sign, table numbers, escort cards and place cards created and I gladly volunteered.  Each guest was able to pick their meal choice ahead of time.  So the servers could tell which meal went to which guest, I made the place card background different colors.  Steak was red, chicken was tan and pasta was green.  It worked out great and everyone got the meal they chose.   My talented friend Carol made the centerpieces.

Saturday afternoon Eric and I had a date.  We grabbed lunch at our favorite place to get gyros - Lilly's in Fairview Heights, Illinois.  I keep thinking I'm going to try a new item, but go with the gyro every.single.time.

After lunch we headed to the movie theater to catch It's a Wonderful Life on the big screen.  Marcus Theaters were offering a free movie ticket in exchange for 5 can goods.  We hauled in our 10 cans and enjoyed this holiday classic with a theater full of others.  Yes, even though this was the 4738437 time I've seen this movie, I still cried at the end.

When the movie was over, we got right back in line and used our Movie Pass for tickets to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.  It has gotten great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Eric and I both agreed it was good.  The Critics Consensus from Rotten Tomatoes: "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri deftly balances black comedy against searing drama -- and draws unforgettable performances from its veteran cast along the way."  I would not be surprised if we hear this movie's named called come Oscar time.

Sunday after church I finished up the stuff for the party that night.  Our event was held in the Malt House Cellar at Moulin Events.  Cool space!  If you're looking for event space in St. Louis, it would be worth your time to call Moulin Events and let them show you their inventory.  Their room capacities vary and can accommodate everything from a small meeting to a large wedding.  The staff handled our event with perfection and the evening was a huge success.  I really wish I would have taken more pictures, but I was too busy living in the moment.

When we got home, I finalized my ornament exchange box and got it ready for shipping.  My package is headed off to Shelly from Queen In Between.  Our big reveal will happen on December 12, so stop by then to see our packages.

Speaking of reveals, Terri from Our Good Life and I will be hosting a link up to show off your Christmas tree(s) on December 14.  Pop in a show us yours!
How did your weekend go?  Hope you had a great one!  Now I'm off to continue checking off items from my to-do list....
