Weekending - October 5, 2018

Hello friends!  Are you celebrating Columbus Day today with a day off work?  Not me -- but holidays are almost always great days to drive into work because of the low traffic.  Today was one of those days for me, so at least my day started off great!

Here's a rewind of our weekend ~

Friday night we attend EarthDance Organic Farm School's annual fundraiser - The Farmer's Formal.  This event enables EarthDance to sustain its Farm and Garden Apprenticeship Program, offer employment to youth, donate produce to families in need, and develop the Organic Farm School's campus into a beautiful, innovative learning environment.  Farmers teamed with local chefs to create the most delicious samples.  I was too busy sampling to get a lot of pictures, so you'll have to trust me that the food was out of this world good!

In addition to the wonderful food, there were also over 20 libationers sampling their drinks.  I found a bourbon watermelon concoction that was so yummy!  Who would have thought that watermelon would go with bourbon.

Overall it was a fun night with friends helping a great cause.  Two of our friends left before we had a chance to get a group photo, but we got this one on the way out of the four of us that were left.

Debbie was the winning bidder on a basket of peppers.  We got outbid on all the things we were hoping to take home.

Earlier in the week, Eric and I had bought tickets to see A Star is Born on Saturday morning.  Best movie I've seen in a long time!  We both loved it and both of us would see it again (true sign that we loved the movie).  Have you seen it?  What did you think?  The performance by both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper suck you in and keep you there throughout the entire two hour and seventeen minutes of the movie.  Now I want the soundtrack.  Click HERE if you would like it too.

When we got out of the show, we headed over to the Missouri Botanical Gardens for the Best of Missouri show.  Just as we were arriving, the skies opened and it began to rain.  We waited in the car a bit, and then decided to start our walk over to the Garden.  On the way, we popped in World's Fair Donuts for a snack.  My breakfast of movie popcorn and diet Mountain Dew had worn off and I was hungry!

While we were roaming around the Missouri Botanical Gardens, we saw the corpse flower that had bloomed in the middle of the night on Thursday.  This rare thing only blooms every few years and has a horrible odor when it does bloom.  Here's what was left on Saturday ~

From the Botanical Garden, we meandered over to Chouquette for some bakery items, Urban Loafers for a nice loaf of sourdough bread, and Olio for some real food.  We sipped on cocktails while waiting for our cuisine.  It was a spritz for me.

We enjoyed a couple small plates of hummus, egg salad and Israeli bruschetta.  Then topped it all off with the roasted cauliflower salad.  Oh.My.Gosh - the cauliflower salad was soooo good!

Sunday we went to a little pumpkin patch out in the middle of the country.  I'll have to share the ones we got and what we did with them later because right now they are still sitting in my garage.

Eric left for work and I did a little bit of shopping to round out the weekend.  Our temperatures were way too hot to be considered "fall like" and now this week our highs are going to be in the 50s.  Where did our fall weather go?!?    Hopefully it will return and we can enjoy some 70 degree weather before winter gets here!

Check out what others were up to this weekend.
