Is Covid Messing With Your Wedding?

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday where I ramble about a topic that's on my mind and invite you to link a post on what you're thinking out loud about.

Today I'm thinking out loud about a topic very near and dear to me - weddings.  Each year for almost the past decade I play the role of wedding coordinator for two couples.  Wedding planning is my side hustle and I love it!  My friend TW usually helps me and we have the best time working together.

Two weddings a year seem to be my sweet spot because each wedding takes a lot of time and I want to make sure I can focus on exactly what the bride and groom want for their special day.  It's important to me to make sure their wedding dreams come true!

When all the Covid craziness started in March, I remembered breathing a sigh of relief that my weddings this year wasn't until August and September.  That was plenty of time for the world to get back to normal and I really wasn't too worried about it affecting the couples wedding days.

I was very wrong.  The world hasn't gotten back to normal and now we're knee-deep in social distancing and worrying about the number of guests that can gather.  One couple made the very, very hard decision this week to postpone their nuptials until 2021.  The other is including this note with their invitations ~
Dear Family and Friends,
Like many of us, we are watching the Coronavirus outbreak very closely.  Your safety and wellbeing are important to us!  We never dreamed two years ago when we began planning our special day it would be necessary to think about social distancing!
We have been working with our wedding venue to ensure precautions are in place to make our wedding and reception as safe as possible.  Our guest list is designed to fit the number the venue can accommodate.  We would appreciate you giving us a speedy, accurate RSVP so we can continue to plan around the social distancing necessary at this time.
We hope to see you in August!  If you feel uncomfortable attending due to the Coronavirus, we certainly understand.  We know you will be with us in spirit.

As wedding guests, we need to be gracious to the bride and groom.  It's always important to RSVP quickly, but even more so under our current circumstances.

The couples that have to reschedule are going to be facing the challenge of finding an open date at their venue.  Some couples have booked literally 12-18 months in advance and now are scrambling for a new date.  Other couples are having to cut their guest lists considerably.  If you are one that gets cut, don't take it personally.

This is definitely unprecedented times and it called for unprecedented measures.  Couples planning weddings are under a lot of pressure, so we as guests need to do everything we can to help them during this challenging time.  Be gracious.  Be kind.  Be understanding.

Now it's your turn.  What are you thinking out loud about today?  Link up and share.
