Let There Be Light

Hello and welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday where I chat about something on my mind and invite you to link up and share what you're thinking out loud about.

As summer fades, one of the things I miss the most is long days of sunshine.  I love it when daylight lingers well into the evening.  Come October, the sun sets earlier and it gets even worse when the time changes.  Over the years, we've added lighting in select areas of our house to make things a little brighter and I thought I'd share some of them with you today!

One of my favorite (and economical) additions to our kitchen was the puck lights we put under our cabinets.  A set of six is under $35 and everything you need to install them comes with your purchase.  Ours have been hanging for almost a year and we've not had one problem.  They all work with a single remote, so turning them on and off is a breeze!  Another aspect I love is the selectable dimmer.  You control the level of brightness or use the presets to get your amount of glow.

Something that helps us not go bump in the night is the lit plugin covers we installed.  The product, like the puck lighting, was extremely easy to install and economical.  We placed one at the bottom of our steps and in the hallway between bedrooms.  They cast the perfect little light!

One thing we are thinking about adding to the outside of our home is landscaping lights.  I've had my eye on this set and am adding it to our Christmas wishlist.  A well-lit path up to a nice front door is just so inviting!  Adding these would instantly enhance our curb appeal.

Lighting can change not only the mood of your home but your physical mood as well.  So light it up!  Where's your favorite place to add lighting?

Now it's your turn.  What are you thinking out loud about today?  Link up and share!

  1. My kids were just asking about under-cabinet lighting.. it's something my husband and I have talked about doing for years and still have not gotten around to doing! I'm going to have to check out those puck lights. Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. Light really is a game changer. When we remodeled our kitchen, we paid special attention to the lights, and I am so happy with the results!

  3. Those outlet covers are awesome. Our upstairs hallway has no windows, so is quite dark at night. These would be great! Thank you so much for hosting. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  4. We also have puck lights under our kitchen cabinets and they help to light up the counters very much--love them!

  6. One of the things I fell in love with in my kitchen were the little lights under the cabinets. How wonderful it would be if they were dimmable. They do make such a difference. LOVE the little lights built into the plugs. Genius. I need to get a few of those to help when we have company.
