Five on Friday - January 8, 2021

Happy Friday!  This has been such a long week and I'm so excited to have a few days to regroup.  That first week back to work after the holidays is always a bit challenging and I'm glad it is now behind me.

Here's my Five on Friday for this week ~

We have been overdosing on the Bee Gees lately and I'm not even sad about it.  The new HBO special The Bee Gees:  Mend a Broken Heart is a wonderful rock documentary of their path to their fame.  Barry Gibb has a new album releasing today that was recorded in Nashville with the help of greats like Dolly Pardon, Keith Urban and Alison Kraus singing all our Bee Gee favorites.  This will be playing on repeat around our house this weekend!

The title of this book kind of says it all.  Who doesn't want to build a better brain!?!  Sanjay Gupta's new book is here to help us.  Here's the summary from Amazon ~
Keep your brain young, healthy, and sharp with this science-driven guide to protecting your mind from decline by neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta.

Throughout our life, we look for ways to keep our mind sharp and effortlessly productive. Now, globetrotting neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta offers insights from top scientists all over the world, whose cutting-edge research can help you heighten and protect brain function and maintain cognitive health at any age.

Keep Sharp debunks common myths about aging and cognitive decline, explores whether there’s a “best” diet or exercise regimen for the brain, and explains whether it’s healthier to play video games that test memory and processing speed, or to engage in more social interaction. Discover what we can learn from “super-brained” people who are in their eighties and nineties with no signs of slowing down—and whether there are truly any benefits to drugs, supplements, and vitamins. Dr. Gupta also addresses brain disease, particularly Alzheimer’s, answers all your questions about the signs and symptoms, and shows how to ward against it and stay healthy while caring for a partner in cognitive decline. He likewise provides you with a personalized twelve-week program featuring practical strategies to strengthen your brain every day.

Keep Sharp is the only owner’s manual you’ll need to keep your brain young and healthy regardless of your age!

Is one of your resolutions this year to organize your old photos?  Here is a set of 24 photo cases that will each hold 100 4" x 6" photos.  Their snap-tight closure will keep the contents secure and will protect your pictures or cards.  My mind is buzzing with all the possibilities of what they could hold!  I'm thinking my craft room could definitely benefit from a set. Get yours

One of the things I'm pledging to do this year is to lift up my friends.  We have all had months of hard, and hard still faces us in the coming months.  This affirmation deck is going to make the perfect little thing to send to friends or leave on their desks at work.  The set contains 62 affirmation cards that feature the beautiful original artwork by Casey Wiegand and have hand-lettered quotes of motivation, encouragement, and inspiration.  Get some for you and your friends HERE.

5.  Gotta Love Amazon...

Have a great weekend!  We'll be here taking down the rest of our Christmas decorations.  Stop in next week to see what other things we happen to do over the weekend!

  2. Oh my gosh, that Amazon graphic. So very true. I suggested someone just stand at the door of Walmart, too. Problem solved. Just ask us!!

Love the idea of lifting up your friends. Lucky friends!!

I need to do something to stimulate my brain that is fast turning to mush. Or oatmeal. I like it better. Will check out that book.
