Five on Friday - April 12, 2019

Hello Friday!  Oh my - this week has been a truly great one.  On Wednesday I had the opportunity to meet a blogger friend that was in town from Colorado.  Do any of you read Jodie's Touch of Style? Well, on Wednesday night I had the opportunity to have dinner with her.  Guys, she's wonderful!  I'll be sharing more about meeting her and the fashion show I attended with her as a model later.   But now I want to share my five for this week ~

1.  Game of Thrones Whiskey
I'm sure this is news to no one, but the eighth and final season of Games of Thrones starts on Sunday night.  We don't watch (I know!), but all the hype has made me a little sorry we never got into it.  If you are heading to a watch party and want to give a cool hostess gift, Johnnie Walker has you covered.  Pick up a bottle of their White Walker, throw it in the freezer and watch the Game of Thrones themed picture magically appear when the temperature falls.

Sorry, Tyrion Lannister, but now everyone is able to drink and know things. While Game of Thrones fans have been waiting (not-so-patiently) for the highly anticipated eighth and final season of the series, Johnnie Walker announced a new line of Thrones-inspired whiskies to hold us over. Not only is there a White Walker by Johnnie Walker bottle inscribed with "Winter Is Here" on the side, but there's also an entire Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection with a bottle for each House of Westeros รข€” including one for The Night's Watch!
White Walker by Johnnie Walker and the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection are both available in liquor stores nationwide. The collection ranges from $30 to $65. Read on to see all the fascinating House bottles, because Tyrion said it best: "Everything's better with some wine whisky in the belly." Cheers!

2.  MAC Fresh Brew
Joanna Gaines recently revealed her favorite lipstick - and it's actually one we can afford!  MAC Fresh Brew won her heart and it might just win yours too!  It's under $20 and Joanna says "the best long-lasting nude lipstick I’ve found!".  It seems lots of people love it because it has over 5,000 positive reviews.  Get it HERE.

3.  Cape Line Sparkling Cocktails
Summer is coming and we love sitting on the patio in the evenings enjoying a cocktail.  These premixed canned cocktails come in three flavors:  hard strawberry lemonade, margarita and blackberry mojito.  I'd be happy with any of them in my hand!  Wonder where you can find them in your area?  Cape Line's only store locator (HERE) will point you in the right direction.

4.  Easter Donuts
Have you seen the Easter donuts at Krispy Kreme?  You guys - they are SOOOO cute!!  It would be so fun to surprise your kiddos (or neighbors, or friends, or ANYONE) with these adorable pasteries.  Just look at their cuteness!

Okay guys, I'm off to get some stuff done.  We have a big weekend over here.  Tomorrow is wedding work day for a wedding I'm helping with in June.  It will be invitation making central at our house!  Then on Sunday I'm hosting some friends to celebrating one's birthday.  So much fun stuff happening!  Pop back in next week to hear all about it.

Thinking Out Loud Thursday - April 11, 2019

Welcome to Thinking Out Loud Thursday!  So glad you popped in.  If you're a blogger, link up below and share what you're thinking out loud about today.

Last Friday, Eric and I had an opportunity to attend the home opener game for the St. Louis Cardinals.  It was so much fun and I'm still thinking about it!

St. Louis treats the Cardinals home opener like a national holiday.  I have to admit, we've been to several opening days and the excitement of getting to go never gets old.  The Cardinal organization puts it all out there for the fans and you would have to be dead inside to not enjoy it.

The pregame is kicked off as the Clydesdale horses parade around the track.  Then the Cardinal Hall of Famers enter the stadium in convertibles, followed by all the current players.  As an added bonus, this year the National Anthem was performed by local Kennedy Holmes and followed up with a military plane fly over.  Literally brought tears to my eyes!

Rather you're sitting at a professional baseball game or a kiddo's t-ball experience, good baseball attire is always fun to wear.  Check out these fabulous shoes ~

Amazon is my go to spot for baseball bling.  Check out these fun accessories ~

Technically, the Cardinals lost the game last Friday.  But just being in the park made us feel like winners!

Now it's your turn - what are you thinking out loud about today?  Link up and share!

Let's Make Kettlecorn

Every now and then, Eric and I will be settling in to watch a movie or enjoy a game on television and crave something a little bit sweet and a little bit salty.  In moments like this, I whip up a batch of kettlecorn!

This recipe literally only takes a couple minutes to complete and I typically have all the ingredients on hand.  You can pull this off during a commercial break!

Here's What You Need
1/2 cup Popcorn Kernels
3 tablespoons Cooking Oil
1/4 cup Sugar
Salt

Here's What You Do
Put your Whirley Pop Popcorn Maker on the stove and turn on the heat.  I usually start on high and then reduce the heat to medium after the kernels begin popping.

Pour in the oil, kernels, and sugar.  Shut the lid and wait for the popping to begin.  As soon as you hear the first kernel burst, give the handle a turn and keep slowly turning while the rest of the kernels spring open.  (This is also when you turn the heat from high to medium.)

When the popping stops, remove from heat and pour into a bowl.  Sprinkle with salt.  Enjoy!

Five on Friday - April 5, 2019

Happy Friday!  It's a happy, happy day in St. Louis today because it's the home opener for our beloved Cardinals.  Just love hearing the crack of the bat on opening day!  Before that excitement gets underway, here's my five for today ~

1.  Amidst the Chaos
Are you a Sara Bareilles fan?  If so, today is a happy day for you!  Sara's new CD, Amidst the Chaos, drops today.  Ever since we saw the musical Waitress, my love for her has grown and I can't wait to hear this 12 song collection.  Want a copy for yourself?  Click HERE to check it out.  Oh - and don't forget to check her out on Saturday Night Live this week.

2.  Easter Egg Oreos
The folks over at the Oreo factory have been working overtime.  They just got through their special Valentines cookies and they are now giving us a special, limited edition, egg shaped cookie for Easter.  I'm thinking these oval shape will make the dunking in milk that much easier.  Look for them in Walmart and Target stores.

3.  Magnetic Bookmarks
Speaking of Easter, are you looking for some things to put in those baskets?  Check out these magnetic bookmarks!  The whole set is a little less than $10.  Give them all to one lucky fellow or bust up the set and spread the joy.  Either way, these things are winners!  Click HERE to grab a set before they are gone.
I had heard so many things about this novel and it finally floated to the top of my read list.  Oh.My.Goodness -- it's so good!  Loved the story and the beautiful way it was told.  Here's they synopsis from Amazon ~
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life--until the unthinkable happens.
Perfect for fans of Barbara Kingsolver and Karen Russell, Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.
If you don't have this one loaded on your Kindle or sitting on your nightstand, buy it immediately.  I don't think you'll be sorry!  Click HERE to get your hands on a copy.
